Are you looking to get a jump start on your engineering career in J&J MedTech? The Graduate Engineer Accelerated Rotational (GEAR) program looks to develop talent to gain real time knowledge and building an encouraging network! This role will support our Global Technical Operations (GTO) team within the Ethicon business. If you are looking to further your engineering skills and make a positive difference in peoples' lives, we want you to join our team!
GEAR is a dynamic 2-year rotational program made up of three 8-month rotations with positions available in GTO across Ethicon sites in North America. This program will provide the opportunity for incoming talent to experience a wide array of challenges, within manufacturing and new product development. The GEAR program is a unique development program catered toward engineering-focused individuals and designed to develop robust technical skills at an accelerated pace.
Our team of engineers are on the forefront of technology in the medical device industry. In this technical role you will make a vital contribution to the products we make. You will have the opportunity to support and learn about several product families and make our mission of innovating patient care a reality. Our engineering staff collaborates with R&D teams, multiple Manufacturing sites, and Suppliers to develop/maintain robust component designs and manufacturing processes that meet or exceed all product requirements. This key role provides an opportunity to bring meaningful improvements to Ethicon products while also providing the opportunity for significant professional growth following the technical track.
Program Components:
Combine on-the-job experience with technical, leadership & personal development training
Rotational assignments across multiple NA/US sites that deliver real and impactful business results
Opportunity to expand technical capabilities and knowledge
Exposure to multiple MedTech platforms across Ethicon (Endomechanical-Energy, Wound Closure & Healing, Biosurgery)
Global networking and virtual collaboration with fellow associates around the world
Building technical skills in many areas, including project management, quality and regulatory compliance, manufacturing operations, and product/process improvement methodologies (six sigma, lean, design excellence)
You will be responsible for:
Conducting assignments involving a specific portion of a project, which may include design, development, manufacturing, construction, installation, operation and maintenance
Demonstrating leadership
Taking personal accountability
Learning and applying skills
Supporting transition processes between assignments
Providing feedback and recommendations on program effectiveness
Qualifications
Requirements and Education:
Permanent US work authorization without sponsorship
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in an engineering-related field
A cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher preferred
Professional experience in a STEM-related field. A min. of 3 months' work experience, inclusive of co-op, internship, and post-graduate employment
Interest in cross-franchise engineering assignments within Ethicon
Geographic flexibility over the course of the GEAR Program, up to and including final placement upon graduation from the program
Relocation Packages will be provided if you are requested to move more than 50 miles
Eligible to begin full-time employment with J&J by the assigned start date in June 2023
Knowledge and Skill Sets:
Proven leadership and technical skills
Willingness and ability to learn in a dynamic environment
Highly effective communication skills
Good basis in statistical analysis of data – e.g. experience with Minitab tool (or equivalent)
Full proficiency in MS Office applications (including MS project)
Location & Travel Requirements
Location: Multiple across North America: Cincinnati, OH, San Angelo, TX, Raritan, NJ, Athens, GA, Cornelia, GA, San Lorenzo, PR, and Juarez, MX
Travel: This position travels occasionally both domestically and internationally.
