Utilization Review Appeals Coordinator / Henry Ford Hospital Detroit / Full time Days - Detroit, Michigan - 1 day ago - 185210 Apply for Job - A new opportunity is available for a Utilization Review Appeals Coordinator at the Henry Ford Hospital in midtown Detroit. This position is an office environment desk job utilizing a desk top computer. Medium level computer skills are necessary for the position. Position: Full time 40 hours per week Shift: Day shift 8 am to 4:30 pm Benefits: Full time benefit package GENERAL OVERVIEW: Responsible for obtaining and tracking authorizations, denials and additional information requests received from third party payers. Input pertinent information into the ECIN Communication and Denial Applications System, EPIC notes, Authorization Entry Screen and tracking log. Communicates with third party payers relative to appeals. Create, follow-up through resolution, track administrative denials and appeals. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES: Receive and process authorizations, denials and additional information inquiries for inpatient and observation services. Review denial rationale, develop rebuttal and create an effective administrative appeal within the timely filing guidelines. Maintain, update the appeals log. Provide weekly totals of account activity. Respond to payer requests, inquiries, and/or complaints. Educate payer personnel on Henry Fords expectations. Justify stance for appeal. Research problem accounts that lack authorizations. Process, familiarize and complete communication forms required by payers. Work directly with Appeal nursing staff regarding clinical issues. Identify problems and urgent matters for immediate resolution. Update ECIN and Epic programs to reflect appeal, approval and denial decisions as received by insurance company response. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: - High School Diploma or equivalent required. - Minimum 1 year experience with denials and appeals. Minimum 1 year experience in medical records coding. - Experience working in ECIN and MPAC preferred.
