    Cancer Bioinformatics Data Scientist Purpose of Job Human Longevity Inc. is seeking Cancer Bioinformatics Data Scientist to join a core team of Cancer Machine Learning in Mountain View, San Diego, or Remote. The team works in close collaboration with world-class Cancer Scientists in San Diego to build integrated software applications for cancer data. Primary responsibilities include: rapid prototyping of existing and novel cancer bioinformatics algorithms, validation of the algorithms, deployment of code. Tasks and Responsibilities Relevant projects the team is involved in and minimum requirements for each are listed below: Advanced data analysis and integration of somatic variant calling. Familiarity with variant calling software is a must. Integration of RNA-Seq and structural variant calling workflows into HLI software. Familiarity with RNA-Seq and Structural variant calling workflows, data processing and analysis is required. Integration of cancer annotation sources and other multi-omic data. Familiarity with publically available cancer annotation sources: COSMIC, CIViC, TCGA and data portals cBioPortal, XENA, GDC, ICGC is desired. Development and deployment of machine learning models and software applications that provide information relevant for cancer subtypes and underlying biology and cancer treatment. Strong software development skills are required. Key Attributes A fast learner who is excited to drive innovation in the junction between software, cancer genomics and healthcare Desire to apply your skills in the service of a greater mission improving cancer patients care Ability to work independently and deliver tested stand-alone components Hard working and a self-starter Minimum Qualifications (must have) MS or PhD in a quantitative or computational field such as Computer Science, Statistics, Bioinformatics, Cancer Analytics, or related field 2+ years of industry/academic experience in prototyping cancer bioinformatics software and workflows 2+ years of programming experience in Python Significant experience in at least one of the fields: (1) Cancer Bioinformatics, (2) Genomic Data Analytics, (3) Machine Learning Solid programming skills, good familiarity with software development cycle, solid understanding of software concepts - data structures and algorithms Preferred Qualifications Demonstrated ability to work cross functionality with other teams Demonstrated experience developing algorithms and pipelines for Next Generation Sequencing data analysis and quality control Good familiarity with Docker, R, C/C++ Location : Mountain View, San Diego, CA or Remote. Occasional travel may be required since companys headquarters are based in San Diego.
