This is a relief position; will cover time off. No weekends.
General Summary
Under general supervision, perform a variety of routine and specialized technical procedures applying prescribed ionizing radiation for radiologic diagnostics.
Principal Responsibilities and Tasks
Under general supervision of departmental management and physicians, coordinates the scheduling of imaging procedures. Ensures all required documentation for the procedure is collected and charted in the EMR according to compliance requirements. Work with the clinical team to respond to urgent or emergent needs for imaging exam scheduling, offering add-on times. Properly receive imaging patients, performing check in or registration duties as appropriate. Manage telephone communications with internal and external departments, patients, providers, and customers.
Key Responsibilities
** Key Responsibility 1** : Working with referring physicians, referring offices, radiologists, and the patient, correctly schedules imaging procedures. Gathers and electronically charts all documentation required to be in place prior to patient appointment. * Checks pre-authorization status as appropriate. * Maintains communications with the patient when at the facility for care. Helps clinical staff with patient communications. * Demonstrates organizational skills that allow for timely documentation in the EMR.
Key Responsibility 2 : Documents accurate patient care activity in various electronic health records systems. Adheres to Joint Commission, State, Federal and departmental regulatory compliance standards.
Key Responsibility 3 : Performs the key responsibilities of the department’s receptionists and registrars.
Key Responsibility 4 : Documents patient data and time stamps in active support of departmental and organizational performance improvement initiatives and efforts to improve workflows, patient experience, and quality.
Key Responsibility __5 : Recognizes key role in enhancing the patient experience as the initial patient contact and continued contact for the patients as they move through their advanced imaging procedural encounter
Qualifications
Education and Experience
Required: * High School Diploma or GED equivalent
Preferred: * Medical Terminology coursework * Associate or Bachelor Degree * * Experience
Minimum of 2 years scheduling and/or registration experience OR 4 years as Radiology Clerk (preferred)
Computer scheduling, electronic health records systems, and/or MS Office Suite experience
This position requires a person who exhibits a positive attitude, excellent communication skills, the ability to work productively under stress, and who displays a professional demeanor and is able to prioritize workloads.
Must be willing to travel between facilities.
CPR certification is required.
