    As an Instrumentation Technician, you will:

    Performs a variety of complex duties to calibrate, troubleshoot, maintain and repair instruments for process data acquisition and control to enhance a safe and efficient operation.

    Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

    • Calibrate, install, inspect, test, repair and rebuild measuring and control devices in accordance with manufacturer’s specifications.
    • Operate electronic test equipment such as digital and analog multimeter, and analog and digital simulators.
    • Operate pneumatic calibration and instrument simulation equipment.
    • Effectively work from prints, P & IDs and loop diagrams, and computer interfaces to troubleshoot instrument system malfunctions and make the necessary repairs or corrections.
    • Demonstrate working knowledge of AC and DC motor control circuits.
    • Repair, replace and install equipment in an explosion proof environment.
    • Safely make repairs and changes on equipment while in operation.
    • Instruct employees assigned to assist on specific jobs and give advice when lower level mechanic is working, or training, or unfamiliar equipment.
    • Work from blueprints and sketches to fabricate minor components for production equipment using basic machine and instrument shop equipment.
    • Perform minor plumbing and electrical conduit functions (measure, cut, thread and hang pipe or tubing).

    Additional Responsibilities:

    • Carries out duties in compliance with all state and federal regulations and guidelines including FDA, EPA, OSHA and DEA. Complies with all company and site policies and procedures and the intent of our Credo.
    • Comply with established safety procedures, policies and the intent to maintain a safe working environment.
    • Assume responsibility for the environmental effects of work performed and for the identification and recording of environmental problems as they arise. Follow all applicable aspects of the site Environmental Management System as it pertains to normal job duties.
    • Maintain work areas and shop in neat and orderly condition. Clean up after each job.
    • Serve on various committees and teams to enhance operations at the JANSSEN PHARMACEUTICALS, Inc. plant site as requested by supervision.
    • Complete training programs as requested by supervision.
    • Perform any other maintenance job as abilities are applicable and assigned.
    • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
    • Be available for rotating shifts, weekends, or overtime work on a scheduled or emergency basis. Respond promptly to evening, nights or weekend call-ins in accordance with established schedule.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Education and Experience:

    High school diploma and technical school training in an accredited electronics or instrumentation trade; minimum of two (2) years experience in applicable electronics and pneumatic instrument control; or equivalent combination of education and experience; and the ability to interpret National Electric Code is desirable. ISA certification is desirable.

    • Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and technical procedure manuals.

    • Respond to inquiries from customers, regulatory agencies and Janssen Pharmaceuticals, Inc. staff.

    • Calculate figures and amounts such as percentages, area, circumference, volume, decimals, and fractions.

    • Apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

    • Computer Skills:

      • Ability to use software, including word processing and mathematical applications, customize it and provide troubleshooting for business needs
      • Ability to use a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
    • Ability to interact with staff from all levels of the organization in a team environment

    • Ability to successfully complete regulatory and job training requirements

    Physical Demands:

    • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

    • Must be able to work at heights up to 30 feet.

    • Must be able to qualify for respiratory protective equipment use.

    • Good physical fitness with capacity for lifting, pushing, and pulling 50 pounds.
