    Purpose:

    In this role, the candidate will join a dynamic team leading and supporting various enterprise tax planning initiatives and advocacy.

    Primary responsibilities will include operationalization of various international tax planning opportunities and process improvements, technical and modeling support on international tax matters, and advocacy. The candidate’s work location will be in New Brunswick, NJ. The position will incorporate the J&J Flex Hybrid Work Model which requires 3 days a week on site and may require up to 10% travel (Domestic/International).

    This position reports to the Senior Manager of International Tax Advocacy and Planning and will collaborate closely with a variety of groups including the Country Tax Centers, Tax and Reporting Groups, Sector Tax Planning, Tax Technology and the Corporate Controllers Group.

    You will be responsible for:

    • Support identification and implementation of tax planning opportunities (both self-directed and through partnering with other tax personnel)
    • Collaborate and coordinate across various advocacy efforts to assess and model the impacts of potential prospective international tax legislation
    • Provide technical and modeling support on international tax matters including implementation of new regulations and guidance (e.g., TCJA, 987, Notices, etc.)
    • Actively collaborate and partner with multiple functions including Sector Tax Planning, Regional Tax Planning, Finance, Treasury and other Non-Tax stakeholders to enable business and financial decisions to be made and implemented on a tax efficient basis
    • Help operationalize various tracking and monitoring efforts in relation to current and new disclosure requirements (e.g., ATAD, CbCR, etc.)
    • Support tax analysis in relation to ongoing repatriation strategy and tax cash flow management
    • Support various ad hoc tax planning and special project work
    • Demonstrate ability to balance and prioritize multiple initiative simultaneously
    • The successful candidate must be a self-directed individual able to exercise independent judgment, execute activities in a highly complex environment, and possess strong communication, business partnering and people management skills. This role supports international tax advocacy and the development of Tax planning opportunities in accordance with the J&J Credo as further aligned with business strategies, platforms and the legal environment. This role deploys best practices, manages risks, and remains current with industry international tax planning developments.

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s Degree required, preferably in Accounting or Finance; CPA/CMA or LLM/JD preferred
    • Minimum of 6 years of tax experience working in a Big 4 Accounting Firm and/or a large multinational organization
    • Knowledge of international tax concepts
    • Strong analytical abilities (data, fact patterns, external tax/legal frameworks)
    • Strong tax research and writing skills
    • Understanding of income tax accounting principles
    • Intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
    • Strong communication and business partnering skills
    • Ability to execute innovative solutions to meet business needs and to manage risk in a quickly changing external environment
    • OneSource and Corptax experience preferred

    The anticipated base pay range for this position is :

    100,000-172,500

    Additional Description for Pay Transparency:

    The Company maintains highly competitive, performance-based compensation programs. Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan. The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporation’s performance over a calendar/performance year. Bonuses are awarded at the Company’s discretion on an individual basis. Employees and/or eligible dependents may be eligible to participate in the following Company sponsored employee benefit programs: medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short- and long-term disability, business accident insurance, and group legal insurance.
