  • Responsibilities

    The Pediatric Genetic Counselor provides genetic counseling services to pediatric patients and their families, assisting them in understanding genetic conditions, inheritance patterns, and available testing options. They work closely with healthcare teams to facilitate informed decision-making, provide emotional support, and coordinate genetic testing and follow-up care for pediatric patients.

    Required Experience

    Work Experience:

    • Minimum of 3 years related experience and/or training.
    • Previous experience in pediatric genetic counseling preferred.
    • Experience working in a pediatric healthcare setting highly desirable.
    • Demonstrated expertise in providing genetic counseling services to pediatric patients and families.

    License/Registration/Certification:

    • Certification or board eligibility as a Genetic Counselor through the American Board of Genetic Counseling (ABGC) or the American Board of Medical Genetics and Genomics (ABMGG).

    Education and Training:

    • Completion of a master's degree program in Genetic Counseling from an accredited program, including coursework and clinical training in pediatric genetics.
    • Continuing education to maintain licensure and certification, including participation in conferences, workshops, and online courses.
