Essential Responsibilities * Conducts assessments and provides behavioral health counseling services to students individually and in groups as appropriate. Develops behavioral health counseling goals, monitors progress, and makes referrals as warranted. Provides crisis intervention services following established protocols, which may occur after-hours. * Responsible for supporting overall well-being of students. Participates on Student Success Team with responsibility for coordinating development and implementation of student supports plans for students identified as needing targeted or intensive supports. Monitors and assesses behavior, progress, accountability, health, and safety of students and coordinates with school counselor to address academic and educational supports. Serves as a designated liaison for reporting suspected child abuse or neglect. * Responsible for communicating with and supporting families as related to the well-being of the student, including home visits. Helps with the navigation and coordination of receipt of off-campus professional services. Works with off-campus professionals and students on supports plans. Consults with administrators, teachers, counselors, and dormitory advisors, as applicable, to provide school-based supports to optimize student well-being. * Teaches classes to students and is a resource to employees on behavioral health related topics. Facilitates workshops for parents that enhance the social and emotional growth of students. * Meets with Neighbor Island parents when need arises (primarily handled by Counselor assigned to Boarding). Responsible for providing follow-up and/or support services for students who were placed on OTR (Option-to-Return) by the school for non-academic reasons, and for exchange students. Minimum Qualifications - An equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute for the requirements listed. * Master?s Degree in Social Work, Mental Health, or a closely related field. * Minimum of 2 years of related work experience. * Valid Driver's License * Demonstrated ability to facilitate group counseling activities and teach classes on behavioral health topics. * Ability to provide high quality behavioral health counseling and to identify need for outside referral.
