Responsibilities Requirements Resposibilities: nbsp; * Under the direction of the Chief or Captain of Police and/or shift supervisor the officer maintains a safe and secure environment for all persons visiting the Medical Center. * The officer fulfills the duties of a Police Officer and/or dispatcher and other duties, as assigned * Ability to follow written and oral instructions * Good communication skills, both oral and written * Ability to deal with and to communicate tactfully and effectively with employees, students, patients, and visitors under stressful circumstances * Ability to meet the standards established by the Medical Center * Ability to learn and operate a proprietary central fire system and/or other computer based systems when needed * Ability to learn and operate a proprietary central communications and CCTV system Knowledge of principles and methods of maintaining building and ground security * Ability to investigate incidents fully and deal with victims, witnesses and suspects in a tactful manner * Ability to handle money transactions * Ability to accept change and constructive criticism WORK ENVIRONMENT Interaction with patients, visitors, vendor representatives, co-workers, and customers throughout GMH There may be periods of meeting deadlines with severe time constraints, dealing with people in crisis, sometimes with aggressive or violent expression and often with multiple demands from several people. There will be times of working in adverse weather conditions, darkness, in construction areas, and other unsafe environments nbsp; nbsp; Requirements nbsp; * Completion of High School and Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy (OPOTA) certification. Firearms Certification, ASP Police Baton Certification, Valid Driverrsquo;s License CPR and First Aid Certification Experience in crisis intervention and evaluation preferred. * Minimum one-year experience in law enforcement and public contact preferred. nbsp;
