    Janssen’s Large-Molecule Drug Product Development group focuses on the development and evaluation of therapeutic proteins for use in oncological and immunological therapies.

    In this co-op position, you’ll be joining an advanced team of engineers, chemists, and pharmacists to learn and apply skills related to drug product development, including the following:

    • Translating patient needs into specific product attributes through combination product development (design control).

    • Product and process development focused on defining manufacturing process parameters (technology transfer).

    • Making data-driven decisions through the design of experiments and the application of statistical tools.

    This role is focused on contributing to J&J’s current drug product portfolio while simultaneously promoting the innovation and implementation of new technologies, all with an emphasis on improving patient care. Students will work towards these goals through a diverse range of cooperative and independent environments, including cutting-edge laboratory work, collaborative team meetings, and individual desk work.

    Responsibilities for a co-op in this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

    • Design and execute studies to evaluate the impact of manufacturing and combination techniques on drug products.

    • Execute technology transfer deliverables for manufacturing sites producing drug products intended for clinical use.

    • Aggregate, visualize, and analyze large data sets to support modeling and machine learning/AI initiatives.

    • Perform literature searches to investigate new technologies and provide supporting data for existing projects.

    • Author technical reports and present findings to peers and functional management.

    • Follow general laboratory safety procedures, as related to biologically-derived materials.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    We are looking for SELF-MOTIVATED, ENTHUSIASTIC, AND TEAM-ORIENTED STUDENTS who are looking for a career in the pharmaceutical industry.

    Competitive candidates possess the following preferred qualities:

    • Experience with general laboratory procedures and engineering research techniques.

    • Experience with finite element analysis software (i.e. COMSOL), a statistics software package (i.e. Minitab) and/ or CAD (i.e. SolidWorks).

    • Progress toward a B.S. or M.S. degree in mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, biomedical engineering, or a related field.
