    We are searching for the best talent for a Lentivirus Upstream Process Experienced Scientist to be in Spring House, PA.

    You will be responsible for:

    • Acts as a developing individual contributor in the execution of Biotherapeutic projects to support development programs.
    • Assists with the design of lead biologic candidates and works to implement next generation targeting technologies for a variety of Biotherapeutic modalities.
    • Independently designs experiment/analyses based on interpretations and integration of emerging literature or other sources.
    • Assists in developing recommendations for improving standard procedures.
    • Contributes to the preparation and submission of technical reports, patent applications, protocols and manuscripts with detailed outcomes and results of research findings as relevant.
    • Coaches more junior colleagues in techniques, processes and responsibilities.
    • Understands and applies Johnson & Johnson’s Credo and Leadership Imperatives in day-to-day interactions with team.
    • Integrate into the upstream process development team and focus on lentiviral vector-based products such as cell and gene therapy within DPDS, API.
    • This role involves working with the development team leads and scientists, taking on an individual role of performing, maintaining, and monitoring cell cultures while engaging in a team role to meet development objectives with some supervision.
    • You will contribute to experiment planning to scale up viral vector-based processes from shake flasks to bioreactors, assist in identifying and establishing process parameters and ranges, performing planned experiments, optimizing upstream cell culture process steps, perform data analysis for early and late-stage products, and technology transfer the process to GMP clinical or commercial manufacturing sites.
    • May also perform side studies related to media optimization, technology evaluation, and other cell culture related activities as needed.

    Qualifications

    Required:

    • A Bachelor's degree Chemical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Biological Sciences, Chemistry, Biochemistry, or other equivalent and background with at least 3-4 years of relevant industry experience is required (or a Master's degree with at least 2 years of experience is preferred).
    • Broad knowledge in upstream process development and good understanding of cell culture parameters. Hands-on experience with aseptic techniques, cell culture in shake flasks, Wave bioreactors, and bioreactor systems, and cell counting/monitoring methods is required.
    • Candidate needs to be highly organized, meticulous, and capable of handling/pursuing multiple projects in parallel with limited guidance.
    • Strong analytical problem-solving skills for developing creative, innovative solutions, and meeting project objectives is required.
    • Ensure compliance with all relevant safety and quality standards.
    • Experience maintaining accurate and detailed records of experimental procedures, data, and results in a well-organized electronic lab notebook, ensuring reproducibility, accessibility to team members, and compliance with any regulatory requirements.

    Preferred:

    • Previous experience with upstream process development of viral vector based products is highly preferred.
    • Familiarity with analytical methods typically used in the manufacture and characterization of viral-based products.
    • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to operate effectively in a dynamic work environment and collaborate with cross-functional teams is preferred.
    • Excellent presentation, verbal communication, and scientific/technical writing skills is preferred.
    • Ability to make timely decisions and operate efficiently in times of ambiguity is preferred.

    Other:

    • This role will be based in Spring House, PA and may require up to 10% travel. Occasional weekend work is required.
