Reporting to the Staffing Manager, Safety Sitters are responsible for constantly observing their assigned patient(s) and alerting qualified staff should the patients attempt an activity that would be of danger to themselves such as getting out of bed or their wheelchair without assistance, removing medical devices by themselves, etc.

EDUCATION:

High school diploma or equivalent required.

WORK EXPERIENCE:

No work experience required.

When the patient is visiting alone with visitors, the safety aide will make beds, straighten patient rooms, refill water pitchers and do simple clerical tasks as assigned by the Unit Manager. 

Ensure patient safety by taking necessary steps to prevent a patient from falling or otherwise harming himself/herself. 

Responsible for alerting nursing staff should a patient attempt an activity that would be of danger to themselves such as getting out of bed or their wheelchair without assistance, removing medical devises by themselves, etc.

Required Skills Required Experience

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

1. Ability to carry/lift up to 75 lbs.
2. Ability to maintain a consistent workload that involves heavy manual labor.
3. Ability to maintain alertness and acuity that is not typically impaired by any medication, diet, or physical condition.
4. Ability to bend, stoop, squat, sit and maneuver in confined spaces.
5. Ability to wear respirators in environments that may expose you to chemicals, fumes, etc.
6. Ability to maintain workloads that may include travel to a variety of states for days or weeks, and daily timeframes that could exceed the typical 8-hour shift. ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
7. Must be able to determine how to weld/repair equipment in the most effective manner.
8. Must determine safest method of performing job. Must be able to work in reflected heat of welding equipment
