Job Description
As a hands on position, the Manager of Systems Engineering is responsible for providing leadership and direction for day-to-day activities of the NEDS System Engineering team, and, providing leadership and technical expertise to NEDS Information Security Program. The Manager also oversees the implementation of policies and procedures and is responsible for defined results. While applying Information Security concepts, this is a hands-on technical position responsible for the installation, configuration and maintenance of the NEDS computing domain. Plan, develop, and implement changes and systems that support the business, clinical, administrative to support various initiatives and projects. Lastly, the Systems Engineering Manager must work with the other members of the organization at the highest levels.

** Essential Job functions** :
Overall owner of NEDS systems architecture
Provide technical leadership/management for the NEDS systems engineers.
Design, configure, develop, and optimize complex systems, including hardware, software, and network components, to meet business requirements.
Foster a collaborative and innovative team environment to drive excellence in systems engineering practice.
Must be able to lead, influence, and motivate others with demonstrated ability to manage a technical staff
Lead during a crisis and can demonstrate an ability to resolve complex issues
Serve as an escalation resource for persistent issues which have not been resolved within defined SLA’s.
Lead technical projects, including planning, execution, and delivery, ensuring alignment with project goals, timelines, and budgets.
Manage existing virtual infrastructure. Activities include configuration and management of network switches, iSCSI-based storage, and host hardware. Troubleshoot issues as needed
Recommend new capital infrastructure projects to drive IT strategies and improve organizational workflow.
Assess new technologies and acquire new hardware as needed to maintain a defined hardware lifecycle.
Possess the ability to express complex technical concepts effectively, both verbally and in writing to people with varying degrees of technical expertise
Excellent problem solving and decision making skills.
Able to understand technical manuals, equipment and software specifications, contract terms and conditions, statements of work, and general methods of network and telecommunication management
Collaborate with NEDS departments to develop new solutions for process/development related problems, stay current with industry best practices and trends within our systems and storage infrastructure and hybrid environment.
Maintain a productive relationship with business sponsors and end users.
Coordinates support of the telecom system.
Responsible for the IT Disaster Recovery Plan and maintenance of the DRaaS solution.
Recommends new capital infrastructure projects to drive IT strategies and improve organizational workflow.
Assists the CIO in developing policies and deploying technologies for the organization’s information security program.
Configure and maintain information security based hardware and software, including (but limited to) firewalls, SIEM appliances, next-gen antimalware, email security solutions.
Conduct network, system, and application vulnerability scanning, configuration assessment, and remediation.
