    Job Description

    The Materials Management Associate is an integral part of the hospital's Materials Management team. The Senior Associate is responsible for a variety of activities including: inventory replenishment and control, receiving, and distribution of supplies and linen. The Associate is responsible for assisting fellow associates and the Senior Associate, Assistant Buyer, and Materials Management Manager with all facets of their responsibilities. The associate works under the direct supervision of the Senior Materials Management Associate.

    Must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age, culture, ethnicity, and specific individual diagnostic needs of the patients served in his/her department. He/she must be able to assess and interpret data about the patient’s status in order to identify each patient’s specific needs and provide the care needed by the patient group (pediatric, adolescents and/or geriatric patient group, culture and diagnostic specific).

    Consistently expresses and demonstrates compassion and courtesy for patients. Extends courtesy and support to patient's families/visitors.

    • Proficient in the use of the MMIS including the 'Inventory Control,' 'Receiving,' and 'Stock Reorder' modules.
    • Punctually reports storeroom supply par levels to the Senior Associate.
    • Efficiently performs receiving duties.
    • Participates in the distribution of linen to hospital departments.
    • Assists in the fulfilling of Physician Request Cards for surgical cases.
    • Maintains a clean, orderly, and safe storeroom environment.
    • Responds to departmental requests in a timely and efficient manner
    • Maintains inventory levels on the hospital units consistent with patients' needs while attaining the budgetary goals of the hospital as established by hospital policy and the Chief Financial Officer.
    • Accurately receives supplies delivered by vendors and reports any variances in quantities.
    • Efficiently employs a FIFO (First In, First Out) inventory rotation practice.
    • Reports inventory variances discovered while walking through the store room.
    • Attends and participates in in-service educational programs.
    • Assumes responsibility for maintaining knowledge regarding MMIS and other facets of materials management.

    Qualifications

    • Completion of high school level course work with attainment of a high school diploma or State High School Equivalency Certificate (GED) is required.
    • Experience in a warehouse or healthcare distribution position is highly desirable
