Job Summary:
The Medical Billing Payment Poster and Collections Specialist supports the business office by collecting and posting payments from insurance companies who have unpaid claims as well as helping collect patient balances. The Medical Billing Payment Poster and Collections Specialist task list includes, but is not limited to:
Posts insurance payments and remit information from incoming EOBs onto patients’ accounts for previous dates of service.
Appropriately identifies and processes adjustments. Reviews and responds to payment information associated with Explanation of Benefits or Remittance Advice documents by composing denial tasks in worklogs to the Medical Claims Specialists.
Enters posted batch information into the EFT log.
Navigates payer portals to be able to find missing EOB’s.
Runs unapplied payments reports and learns to apply account and encounter payments to balances, as well as payment transfers.
Contacts patients directly to discuss outstanding balances due, process payments, and set up payment plans.
Answers incoming calls routed to the Billing Office to answer patients’ questions regarding balance and insurance questions.
Collaborates with Medical Claims Specialist(s) and Eligibility Specialist(s) for information patients are requesting regarding coverage.
Provides excellent customer service.
Completes any additional tasks deemed necessary.
