    Job Description

    The CLINICAL RESPONDER (CR) provides on-site responses to area hospitals to conduct medical evaluation on all potential organ donors and develop a plan with the healthcare team to maintain the option of donation. The CR also provides on-site assistance to other NEDS staff as well as participates in hospital educational and outreach activities as needed. This position participates in the Organ Donation Services call schedule that provides service to donor hospitals 24 hours/day, 365 days per year.  

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

    • Participates in a 24 HOUR clinical call schedule and responds accordingly when on call, per NEDS referral policy
    • Responds on-site to the hospital to evaluate potential donors, log data and collaborate with hospital staff
    • Rounds on units with high referral activity outside of active referrals including off-shift rounds
    • Attends mandatory meetings and education opportunities provided by NEDS
    • Participates in Hospital Development activities as needed, assigned by their Manager
    • Supports Donation Coordinators on authorized cases with data entry, hospital staff education and other duties as assigned
    • Assists the Organ Surgical Recovery Coordinator as indicated during organ recovery

    SCHEDULE •Orientation: 24 hour on-call shifts. Average 13 shifts per month + training's + meetings. Significant travel with personal vehicle throughout all of New England is expected. Mileage and other reimbursements available.

    •Independent: 24 hour on-call shifts. Expect 10 shifts per month + trainings + meetings. Significant travel with personal vehicle throughout all of New England is expected. Mileage and other reimbursements available.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

    • Required to travel by personal vehicle in order to meet the duties of the position
    • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and the ability to learn NEDS’s internal systems including but not limited to True North required
    • Must understand medical terminology and be able to read a medical chart
    • Must maintain the requirements of an “eligible driver” including maintain an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) and required minimum personal automobile insurance per NEDS Automobile policy

     

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

    B.S. in Health Sciences or related field preferred. 2+ years of emergency or critical care experience in a healthcare setting or hospital preferred.

    CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

    Must have good driving record and a valid state driver’s license.
