Job Description
Functioning under direct supervision of a registered RN, the Nursing Graduate is the beginning practitioner with a basic generic nursing education background. This level clinician utilizes the nursing process in providing patient care and patient/family teaching. The practitioner in this position cares for selected patients and participates as a member of the health care team. Patients served may include neonate through adult-geriatric. The Nursing Graduate shall practice only under the direct supervision of a nurse who is physically present on the unit to cosign medication transcription, medication administration and nursing documentation; and continually observe, assist, coordinate, evaluate, and monitor the nursing graduate. The nursing graduate must also use the initials “NG” after their name as credentials.
Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: To qualify for the position, the candidate must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Successful completion of required nursing, hospital and unit orientation including but not limited to BCLS certification. Candidate must pass the NCLEX examination within 90 days of graduation.
CONDITIONS: The Nursing Graduate will be required to use the initials “NG” after their name as their credentials. The Nursing Graduate will remain in this position for no more than 90 days from the date of graduation from an accredited school of nursing. With a satisfactory performance evaluation and the passing of the NCLEX examination, the Nursing Graduate will advance to a Clinical Nurse I. If the evaluation is not satisfactory, the Nursing Graduate may be terminated.
