  • Responsibilities

    The ASAP Nurse Pt Advocate provides university and health system leaders with a single point of contact for facilitating inpatient and outpatient visits to VCUHS for this patient population.

    The ASAP Nurse Pt Advocate provides the targeted patients with a single point of contact to VCUHS for telephone triage, appointments, referral information, discharge care and home assistance and all necessary arrangements to ensure positive experiences.

    Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for Hire:
    Current RN licensure in Virginia or eligible or compact state

    Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for continued employment:
    Current RN licensure in Virginia
    AHA BLS HCP Certification or equivalent

    Experience REQUIRED:
    Minimum of three (3) years of clinical nursing experience

    Experience PREFERRED:
    Five (5) years of experience working at VCUHS with extensive knowledge of the organization, clinical leadership and scope of services provided
    Extensive knowledge of available community healthcare resources to address constituents’ needs

    Education/training REQUIRED:
    Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing from an accredited program

    Education/training PREFERRED:
    Masters Degree in Nursing from an accredited program

    Independent action(s) required:
    Coordinates activities with patient and visitor relations, physicians` offices and clinic staff.
    Serves as the spokesperson and recognized leader of the VCUHS SCP.
    Develops evaluation process to measure the activity and impact of the program.

    Supervisory responsibilities (if applicable): N/A

    Additional position requirements:
    Must be flexible with work schedules according to department staffing need or shift requirements.
    May be required to work some weekends and holidays.
