  • Responsibilities

    Job Description

    Deliver occupational therapy services through evaluation of patient needs, goal determination, and development of treatment plans according to the principles and practices of occupational therapy.

    Principal Responsibilities and Tasks

    The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by people assigned to this classification. They are not to be construed as an exhaustive list of all job duties performed by personnel so classified.

    1. Performs direct occupational therapy services to patients in accordance with Maryland State Board of Occupational Therapy Practice, code of ethics, and departmental policies and procedures for the delivery of limited occupational therapy services.
    2. Records patient data collected for re-evaluations and care provided in the medical record, in accordance with departmental documentation standards.
    3. Participates in performance improvement activities and suggests areas for improvement to colleagues in a tactful and considerate manner. Proposes performance improvement topics and alternate treatment techniques to improve occupational therapy services.
    4. Assumes responsibility to resolve or report clinical and operational issues to department leadership for resolution, in order to assure high quality care, and efficient departmental operations.
    5. Demonstrates interdisciplinary, safe, patient centered care and delivers excellent customer service
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    Education and Experience

    1. Associate's Degree required.
    2. Current licensed Occupational Therapy Assistant in the state of Maryland is required.
    3. One (1) year of related experience preferred.
    4. Current ACLS or BCLS certification is required.

    Patient Safety

    Ensures patient safety in the performance of job functions and through participation in hospital, department or unit patient safety initiatives.

    1. Takes action to correct observed risks to patient safety.
    2. Reports adverse events and near misses to appropriate management authority.
    3. Identifies possible risks in processes, procedures, devices and communicates the same to those in charge.
