    Job Description

    Position Details:

    • This position is located at our Capital Regional Medical Center in Largo, MD. This position is full-time, night shift with hours of 11:00pm - 7:30am.

    Principal Duties:

    1. Performs general housekeeping duties in a treatment area:

    • Maintains par levels of supplies to include sterile and linen supplies.
    • Maintains cleanliness of scrub sink area.
    • Cleans and disinfects surgical suite and equipment.
    • Removes sealed bags of trash and linen.
    • Transports used linen, instruments and other items to the decontamination area of CSP.
    • Damp dusts all flat surfaces and overhead lights with hospital approved germicide on disposable wipes.
    • Removes and replaces anesthesia disposable suction containers.

    2. Transports Patients:

    • Transports patient to and from the operating room.
    • Prepares clean stretcher for patient transport and obtains additional equipment (patient monitor) as needed.
    • Verifies patient identity.
    • Provides comfort measures as appropriate (warm blankets, pillow, positioning).
    • Transports deceased patients to morgue.
    • Assists in moving and positioning patients as directed within the Operating room.

    3. Transports/moves other items to and from the operating room such as blood products, pathology/mammogram specimens, lab specimens, pharmacy requisitions, X-ray films, etc.

    4. Performs nursing assistant duties including pre-operative surgical shave preps, age - specific patient care related to physiological and psychological presentations, infection prevention, skin integrity maintenance, injury prevention, etc.

    5. Assists with Case Cart completion, OR room preparation, sterile item inspection and delivery.

    6. Operates, maintains, and troubleshoots Steris machine as needed.

    7. Assists OR equipment technician with maintenance of equipment room.

    8. Monitors temperature of medication refrigerator.

    9. Performs clerical and administrative support duties such as answering telephone and communicating information to appropriate staff.

    • Updates schedule board and sends for patients per department policy or physician request.
    • Documents the master schedule daily information.
    • Performs surgical case scheduling (posting).
    • Verifies completeness and accuracy of the surgical packet.
    • Types various documents or in data entry.
    • Maintains forms, surgical packets, specimen logbooks, and office supplies.
    • Processes/mails implant tracking forms and logs.
    • Completes departmental copying on a routine basis.

    10. Performs related work as assigned

  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    • High School Equivalency
    • 3 months in a patient care setting preferably in a hospital. Preferred: 1 year
    • Basic knowledge and working experience with Medical Terminology
