Job Description
Under general supervision, performs oversight and operational execution of both the patient safety and accreditation programs.
**Skills & Abilities **
- Knowledge of large-scale health care facilities, policies and issues
- Proven experience in going through a formal Accreditation survey
- Ability to analyze clinical data (processes and outcomes).
- A current understanding of patient safety theory, methods, standards and regulatory requirements is essential along with a commitment to life-long learning to maintain expertise in a rapidly changing field
- Ability to make independent decisions regarding professional, technical and liability areas required.
- The ability to ensure the confidentiality and rights of all patients, health systems and departmental documents is required
Language Skills
- Must be able to clearly articulate ideas and concepts in non-judgmental and non-confrontational ways.
Mathematical & Computer Skills
- The PSO must have a data-driven mindset and must understand and use basic statistical methods and formal analytic methods
Reasoning Ability
- Ability to make independent decisions after appropriate assessment and communicate relevant information vertically and horizontally throughout the organization effectively.
Certificates, Licenses and Registrations
- Certification in the field of Patient Safety (e.g. CPPS, CPSO) or Healthcare Risk Management (CPHRM) is preferred.
Physical Demands
- Will work from a clean, well-lighted environment.
- Requires lifting and carrying reports/files weighing up to 10 pounds approximately 10% of the time.
- Requires sitting approximately 70% of the time; requires walking and standing approximately 20% of the time.
- Requires occasional bending and reaching. Potential for minimal exposure to blood and/or body substances and hazardous materials requiring the observance of Standard Precautions and safe handling practices.
