    Position Summary:
    We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Perioperative Nursing Associate - Full Time, Days 7:00am- 3:00pm - Amb Surg/Surgical Care.

    In this role, the successful candidate The Perioperative Nursing Associate I (PNA level 1) is a support staff person who assists the Professional and Technical team in caring for, and in providing Perioperative patients with a clean and safe environment by focusing on sanitation services, resource materials management and patient care support.

    Job Responsibilities:

    * Demonstrates Universal Precautions in the cleaning/containment/disposal of blood/body fluids and appropriate use of PPE.
    * Performs initial (AM), in between (Turnover), and terminal (PM) cleaning of rooms according to established policy and procedure.
    * Daily records/adjusts temperature and humidity of each Operating Room to specified requirements by Dep't. of Anesthesia, ie: standard ambient temperature 68-73 degrees - humidity 30-60%, pediatric/geriatric 75-80 degrees,.
    * Decontaminates used equipment and returns to designated storage site for electrical re-charge or dust cover.
    * Participates in the sanitation and sterile reprocessing of scrub brushes and anesthesia masks
    * Inspects and maintains equipment in optimum working order, ie: cords and cables neatly coiled, furniture/stools/carts/IV pole wheels lubricated and free of debris.
    * Participates in maintaining corridors neat and clear of safety hazards and obstacles in compliance with safety codes.
    * Inspects operating rooms for electrical or structural defects on an on-going basis.
    * Removes, tags and reports items for repair or replacement promptly.
    * Participates in team effort to maintain cleanliness and order of accessory and utility closets, decontamination room, center core, scrub sink and lounge areas.
    * Collaborates appropriately with staff via radio, 24 hour OR activity log documentation, and shift reports regarding environment of care concerns
    * Anticipates, obtains and correctly applies OR surgical table accessories, positioning devices and/or special equipment as indicated for procedures.
    * Organized and efficient in accurately performing room "SET-UPS in accordance with procedure and established case specific surgical preference card guidelines.
    * Manages compressed gas inventory, i.e.: ensure that all labels are legible, O2 stations stocked, empty tanks promptly and safely exchanged, and tank room locked.
    * Assists with the monitoring, requisitioning and restocking of utility supplies and in replenishing PAR levels of CSR items.
    * Replenishes daily dietary, linen, and scrub uniform quotas prior to start of day shift.
    * Manages distribution of sterile solutions inventory to operating rooms and warming cabinets.
    * Monitors and replenishes blankets in warmer. 
    * Monitors and maintains disposable mask, hat and shoe cover bins well stocked throughout Perioperative Suite.
    * Maintains outer scrub sinks and center core soap dispensers filled.
    * Transports, positions, lifts and holds patients in a safe and therapeutic manner.
    * Prompt and appropriate responses to changes in patient condition or nursing directive.
    * Provides alert and attentive support in actual or potential emergency situations, i.e.: procurement of supplies, preparing room/equipment in advance.
    * Cooperates in adjusting work schedule in response to change in unit needs and to facilitate intra-op flow. 
    * Conducts errands expeditiously, answers telephone by 2-3 rings and relays messages accurately.
    * Demonstrates care and accuracy in filling out labels, tags and in the delivery of specimens to lab, radiology or morgue. 
    

    Minimum Qualifications:
    To qualify you must have a High School diploma or equivalency.
    Mature interpersonal skills.
    Detail oriented with strong organizational skills in management of time and priorities.
    Physical fitness to lift and position patients, move and manipulate heavy surgical equipment 80% of the time.

    Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

    Long Island Community Hospital provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $48,672.00 - $48,672.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
