Job Title: Philanthropy Coordinator
Location: Chicago, IL- Congress Office
Department: Development & Fundraising
Schedule: Full-Time, M-F - 8:30 am to 4:30 pm
Position Overview
Are you passionate about making a difference in your community through fundraising and donor engagement? As a Philanthropy Coordinator , you'll play a key role in managing fundraising initiatives, organizing events, and building lasting relationships with donors and supporters. Your efforts will directly contribute to our mission of transforming lives through impactful programs and services.
Key Responsibilities
- Donor Relations & Fundraising: Assist in executing annual development strategies, cultivate relationships with new and existing donors, and support major donor planning.
- Grant Writing: Prepare, write, and submit grant applications to secure funding from public and private sector opportunities.
- Event Planning: Organize and execute fundraising events, coordinate logistics, and manage communications with donors, volunteers, and vendors.
- Database Management: Maintain and update the donor database (Donor Perfect or equivalent), process donations, generate reports, and ensure timely acknowledgments.
- Communications: Write and distribute donor thank-you letters, newsletters, appeals, and annual reports.
- Social Media Management: Oversee the organization's social media presence using tools like Hootsuite. Plan, create, and post content for platforms such as Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook, and X (formerly Twitter).
- Research & Prospecting: Identify and cultivate potential donors and corporate sponsors.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the Director of Philanthropy and other staff to support fundraising strategies and activities.
- Diversity & Inclusion: Promote a culture of inclusivity in all communications and fundraising efforts.
What We're Looking For?
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
- 2+ years of experience in fundraising, donor relations, grant writing, event planning, or CRM/database management.
- Nonprofit experience preferred.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and CRM tools like Donor Perfect.
- Social media management experience (Hootsuite knowledge is a plus).
- ****Valid Illinois driver's license with access to an insured vehicle.
- Familiarity with the Chicago philanthropic and corporate community is a plus.
- Self-starter with the ability to thrive in a dynamic, evolving environment.
