The Janssen R&D Discovery, Product Development, & Supply (DPDS) Postdoctoral Fellowship Program helps early career scientists gain the training and experience needed to further their careers, while addressing the needs of global healthcare. RNA and Targeted Therapeutics is an organization within Therapeutics Discovery committed to the delivery of high-quality drug candidates in the novel synthetic modalities space working closely with all Janssen Therapeutic Areas (TA) discovery teams.We are seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral fellow to join the RNA and Targeted therapeutics group at Janssen to help advance oligonucleotide-based therapeutics. We are looking for applicants with a research background in oligonucleotide chemistry or RNA biochemistry and who can apply oligonucleotide synthesis skills to chemically modified oligonucleotides. The Postdoctoral Fellow will:
Generate novel and testable oligonucleotide designs to contribute to oligonucleotide-based therapeutic discovery
Develop and execute clear synthetic strategies towards chemically modified single and double stranded oligonucleotide sequences and monomers using state-of-the-art synthetic methodologies
Collaborate with bioanalytical, DMPK and oligonucleotide biology groups to analyze data and advance the understanding of PK/PD properties for novel oligonucleotide designs.

THE CANDIDATE’S RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE:
Collaborate with bioanalytical, DMPK and oligonucleotide biology groups to understand the PK/PD of novel oligonucleotide designs
Data analysis and draft manuscripts for publication
Search literature information and gain background to meet project needs
Communicate design, synthesis and results to team members and collaborators
Development, training, conferences, internal meetings & symposia
QUALIFICATIONS
REQUIRED MINIMUM EDUCATION
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Ph.D in organic chemistry, medicinal chemistry, nucleic acid chemistry or biochemistry
Experience with oligonucleotide synthesis or nucleotide synthesis
Strong track record of scientific contributions including peer reviewed first-author publications, patent applications, and/or presentations at major national meetings
Good communication skills including scientific writing and presentation
PREFERRED AREA OF STUDY:
PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Understanding of nucleic acid biochemistry, nucleotide modifications
Experience in solid-phase synthesis of oligonucleotides
