Medical Assistant - Apprentice
Assistant - Apprentice (Full Time) to Providence Medical Group in Spokane, Washington. We are a community of caregivers delivering every day on our Mission to provide compassionate care that is accessible for all especially those who are poor and vulnerable. ** ** ** **In this position you will: ** * Be responsible for providing direct patient care and will practice up to the skills learned and approved to practice through the apprentice program. * Apply current healthcare concepts and assist with routine or general clinical responsibilities that may contribute directly and indirectly to patient care. * Complete 2,000 hours of clinical practice under the guidance of the Medical Assistant (MA) coach, 364 hours of coursework (unpaid), 2 skills labs (unpaid) and participate in all required apprenticeship activities. **Required qualifications for this position include: ** * High School Education or Equivalent * Must have participated in and passed a complete medical program in their junior or senior year at a K-12 partner institution (NEWTech and Spokane Valley Tech are preferred K-12 Tech School partners with Providence in the Spokane area) * Successfully completed a relevant technical program focusing on a medical specialty (such as Medical Assistant, Certified Nursing Assistant, EMT, sports therapy or other relevant program) * Written documentation is required from the technical program regarding the level of educational preparation and an assessment of the knowledge and skills of the individual * Current Blood borne Pathogens 7-hour Training * Current Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (BLS) as certified by the American Heart Association (AHA) (May be completed within the first 30 days of hire) * Proficiency in reading, writing and speaking English * Proficiency in the use of computer programs and equipment utilized in a clinic setting (e.g., web-based EMR, web-based training platforms, general computer proficiency) * Must be at least 18 years of age at the beginning date of the MA Apprentice program **Preferred qualifications for this position include: ** * Prior work or volunteer experience in a medical setting About the clinic you will serve.
