    Main Function:

    • Performs a variety of routine and specialized diagnostic, fluoroscopic and limited non contrast CT procedures applying prescribed ionizing radiation for radiologic diagnosis.
    • Performs image analysis and quality assurance by reviewing images for diagnostic quality prior to submission for interpretation by a radiologist.
    • Independently provides and coordinates individualized patient care consistent with the mission and values of University of Maryland Rehabilitation & Orthopaedic Institute and in accordance with professional and regulatory standards.
    • Accountable to patients and families for processes and outcomes during an episode of care.
    • Serves as member of the Interdisciplinary Patient Care Services team.
    • Participates in cost effective strategies that optimize patient outcomes.

    Must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age, culture, ethnicity, and specific individual diagnostic needs of the patients served in Radiology. Must be able to assess and interpret data about the patient’s status in order to identify each patient’s specific needs and provide the care needed by the patient group (pediatric, adolescents and/or geriatric patient group, culture and diagnostic specific). Demonstrates compassion and courtesy for patient, family members, and visitors.

    Qualifications

    • Graduation from an AMA approved school of radiologic technology.
    • Registered or registry-eligible by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
    • CPR certification is required

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

    • Knowledge of radiology principles and practices including anatomy and physiology, radiation protection and physics, and positioning.
    • Ability to operate radiology equipment, such as radiographic machines, radiographic/fluoroscopic machines, portables, tomography systems, C-arms, and processors.
    • Ability to work with patients possessing potentially infectious disease using the appropriate standard precaution and other safety procedures. Effective verbal and written communication skills are required in order to work with patients, medical and nursing personnel.
