The Reference Lab Specialist maintains and organizes laboratory send outs. Accurately processes, organizes, orders, labels and prepares specimens for transportation to reference laboratory.

1. Demonstrated knowledge using the Laboratory Information Systems.
2. General knowledge of the Reference Laboratories used by Hospitals.
3. Effective oral and written communication skills.
4. Proficient in venipuncture and capillary techniques.
5. Proficient in wavered up to moderate complexity testing procedures.
6. Detail oriented and good organizational skills.
7. Knowledge of medical terminology.
8. Ability to promote and practice excellent customer skills.
9. Proficient in the use of various computer applications including database management.

Required Experience

Minimum of one (1) year phlebotomy experience.

Previous experience with clinical laboratory and/or referral testing experience.
