Job Details:
The Polysomnographic Technologist/RCP is a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) and Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with expert skills in conducting sleep studies, sleep staging and technical scoring of sleep events according to AASM standards, provides QA feedback.
He/she works closely with the Team Leader, Supervisor, Manager and Medical Director to assure excellent quality in diagnostic and therapeutic services in the Sleep Lab.
Provides excellent patient experience by following all protocols, policy and procedures and hospital values. Professional duties include patient assessment to determine patient specific needs, comprehensive evaluation and treatment of sleep disorders, including polysomnography, extended EEG, MSLT/MWT, application and titration of oxygen,CPAP/BiPAP and ventilator, airway management, trach capping, blood gas sampling and analysis and patient/family education. Demonstrates skill in calibration and troubleshooting of diagnostic equipment, implementation of new test modalities.
The RPSGT/RCP also assists in overseeing supply inventory, mentoring other staff, including orienting and supervising the work of new sleep technicians. Provides coverage as needed.
