    Position Summary:
    We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Correspondence Clerk.

    In this role, the successful candidate Receive, open and sort mail. Identify payments and correspondence, and distribute to various depts. Keep cash logs, Medicare logs, and adjustment logs. Process ICE reports daily. Print itemized bills and send to attorney's/courts upon request for patient accounts. Handle return mail, place notes in accounts, review other accounts for possible address correction. Scan documents into the Document Imaging System. Prepare boxes for storage vendor pickup labeling and recording on a monthly basis and other various correspondence duties.
    Verifying and distributing reports and claims, printing reports and documents, daily reconciliation of out-patient workers compensation and no-fault reports, claims and related documents to be placed in Vendor box. Scanning vouchers/receipts in document imaging. Other various clerical duties within the Business Office. Assist Supervisor with various projects.

    Job Responsibilities:

    * Receive, open, and sort mail for Inpatient, Outpatient and Credit and Collections.
    * Hand deliver all interoffice envelopes within the Finance Department
    * Prepare checks for receipting by reviewing and sorting them according to "specific type' bundles.
    * Identify correspondence with account number and distribute to the appropriate area within the Department.
    * Identify and copy selected denial letters for Finance and refer to scanning.
    * Assign batch numbers and reconcile the entries for the Daily Cash log, and Daily Adjustment Log using the daily TCE reports.
    * Use the TCE reports to track daily record posted incorrectly and distribute information to the appropriate staff.
    * Correct all Data Mailer TCEs'
    * Using the Medicare Electronic Payment Log, complete and reconcile all entries with the TCE Report. Obtain corrections on rejected information from the payment clerks.
    * Keep the Billing Supervisor aware of outstanding TCE issues
    * Complete attorney request for itemized bills received from the Medical Records Department.
    * Enter new patient address information on FMS from Post Office address correction forms.
    * Distribute daily reports and obtain all missing reports by contacting I.S. or using RAS
    * File Daily Reports for the Business Office
    * Scan all Inpatient/outpatient documents into the accounts/folders using appropriate headings.
    * Scan information into specific generic folders such as refunds, and insurance EOB.
    * Review the "REJECTED" folder in document imaging and do a "MOVE" on items to the correct folder as needed.
    * File all paper EOBs and reports in storage boxes.
    * Send and retrieve boxes when needed from the warehouse
    * Maintain the Secured Chart folder by scanning information into the accounts and distributing correspondence to the inpatient billers
    * At the account level, in FMS in batch mode, post all patient payments incoming via mail. Reconcile amounts for accuracy. Make corrections as needed
    * Daily reconciliation of outpatient workers compensation and no fault claims
    * Verify all claims against the Epremis report and ensure all claims have been printed
    * Print all account information for each account from Document Imaging
    * Batch all claims with account information and place in Vendor box for referral
    * Answer phones and take messages for the Business office staff
    * Make copies, fax items as assigned
    * File and box inpatient/outpatient billing files.
    * Complete the filing process by logging and communicating with the warehouse to pick up and or send boxes from the B.O.
    * Retrieve paper files within the filing areas of the B.O. when needed
    

    Minimum Qualifications:
    To qualify you must have a High school diploma or equivalent
    Ability to use Microsoft Windows/ work in a Windows Environment
    Ability to interpret reports and function in a highly computerized environment
    Ability to use calculator/adding machine and other office equipment
    Good organizational and analytical skills
    Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail
    Interpersonal and communication skills to interact with various personnel, agencies, law offices and patients.
    Must be flexible to perform multiple tasks
    Ability to work independently and complete assigned duties accurately and timely

    Long Island Community Hospital provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $21.20 - $21.20 Hourly. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.

    Qualifications:

    A master's degree in mathematics, or related field is required, PhD and 18 graduate credit hours in Computer Science courses preferred. Post-docs are encouraged to apply. The successful applicant will be someone with teaching experience who can demonstrate the ability to scaffold technical and mathematical concepts. The candidate must also have enough breadth to cover a range of computer science and either algebraic or analysis courses. Shenandoah faculty are evaluated on teaching, research and service. Service will include advising and committee work. This is a 9 month appointment with the option of summer teaching depending on demand. Depending on application credentials and interests, both visiting and career contract appointments at rank are possible.
