    Patient Registration Representative - SMH Imaging Department: SMH Imaging Administration Schedule: Full Time Shift: Days Hours: 9:00a - 5:30p Job Details: * This individual must have the ability to perform a variety of job functions to include secretarial skills, registration and scheduling. While this candidate will be hired to function in one specific job placement, he/she will be expected to fill in when needed in other areas. This individual will effectively maintain the Standards of Practice under the direction of the professional staff, interact with others in a respectful and courteous manner, document accurately in a timely manner; communicate and collaborate with other healthcare team members, and have a working knowledge and responsibility for pre-registration and registration of all patients into the MDI system. He/she is responsible for interviewing and gathering complete and accurate data as week as collecting monies, escorting patients to their destinations, and obtaining signatures on all registration forms. Accurately completes demographic data, financial data and medical information data collection. Receives and directs visitors. Verifies benefits on patients as well as obtaining pre-certification or authorization when required. Contact medical offices to obtain necessary information in order to complete the authorization process. Document deductible and co-insurance information. Collects monies and accurately completes receipts. Responds to and resolves verbal and written inquiries. Receives and directs telephone calls and schedules patients in the RIS system. Receives orders from physician offices and calls patients to schedule. Recognizes, identifies and resolves problems and issues that arise without direct supervision. Assumes responsibility and accountability for skills, performance and behavior in accordance with hospital and patient access policy and procedures. Updates the film library and sends for films as needed. Accepts delegated responsibilities on assigned shift. Documents and maintains patient records. Provides patients and family members with information as appropriate. Assists in the orientation and training of new and tenured unit secretary personnel and serves as a resource to other staff. Must possess typing and computer skills, good organizational and customer relation skills. Good communication/phone skills/etiquette. Ability to maintain confidentiality in daily operations. Ability to conduct duties in a professional manner. Demonstration of time management and organizational skills. Successful completion of mandatory requirements including unit proficiencies/competencies. Demonstration of effective problem solving, decision-making, interpersonal, and team work skills. Demonstration of effective verbal and written communication. Demonstration of positive customer service. Associate degree or high school diploma. Preferred: A minimum of 1 year medical experience with medical terminology and CPAT.
