    Stamford Health is seeking a PATIENT ACCESS REPRESENTATIVE FOR TEMPORARY ASSISTANCE in our Laboratory. The PATIENT ACCESS REPRESENTATIVE (i.e., Registrar) is responsible for the timely and accurate compilation of patient socio-demographic and financial/insurance data either prior to, at time of service, or after laboratory services have been rendered.  Facilitates patient access into the Stamford Health system and serves as an advocate of patients’ rights for health care issues and insurance coverage.  Assists in the flow of data between physicians, physician office staff, ancillary services, emergency services, patient business services, insurance companies and patients while ensuring patient confidentiality is not breached. Assists the departments with ancillary tasks related to the registration process such as filing requisitions, phoning provider offices to confirm orders and diagnosis codes, checking procedures for Advanced Beneficiary Notices, and the like.

     

    FULL-TIME TEMPORARY OPPORTUNITY, 37.5 HOURS/WEEK

    Required Experience

    High School Diploma or GED, required.

    Two years of college or two years prior equivalent experience in a health care setting, preferred.

    Knowledge of health insurance terminology, policies, and eligibility, required.

    Knowledge of clinical terms, preferred.

    Computer knowledge and minimum typing requirements of 50 wpm. 

    Must have excellent interpersonal skills, communication skills and ability to work with patients, their family, and the general public.

    Knowledge of Meditech system, preferred.
