Interventional Radiology (IR) is a procedural specialty in which various imaging technologies are utilized to perform minimally invasive procedures. The nursing position within the IR team is primarily responsible for the pre-, intra- and post-procedural care of these patients, including delivering moderate sedation. The IR team includes the Interventional Radiologists, IR techs, nurses and an IR PA, all of whom work in tandem and with fluidity.
The IR nurse will become proficient in patient assessment and be competent in the management of IR patients, which includes general radiology care. During rotations as the IR charge nurse, responsibilities will include coordinating the daily procedural schedule and supervision of unit activities and non-RN personnel.
Schedule: Monday through Friday, 10:00am - 6:00pm. On call requirement is approximately 1 day/week and every 4th weekend. On call is restricted - must arrive to hospital within 30 minutes.
