Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Specialist, Quality Systems - Full Time Days 09:00 AM - 05:00 PM Monday - Friday Rotating Schedule -.
In this role, the successful candidate Works with the Quality System Manager on collecting laboratory quality data to achieve regulatory and organizational mandates. Monitoring the ongoing proficiency testing program. Work with each of the section heads to ensure the accuracy and integrity of their plan including data capture and report their findings to the QA manager. Collects and reports to the QA Manager the monthly Quality Improvement Advisory Council (QIAC) metrics. Review with the QA manager the effectiveness of the departments quality-related policies and procedures and help identify educational opportunities for staff.
Job Responsibilities:
* Works with section heads in data collection and reporting. Interfaces with all departments throughout the institution, on Quality Management data, reports, and information systems.
* Ensures data is completed and reported promptly.
* Prepares and participates in all inspections, Internal or External- College of American Pathologists (CAP) and New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH).
* Monitors compliance with College of American Pathologists (CAP) regulations and NYSDOH Standards of Practice.
* Monitors Proficiency Testing compliance and maintains Corrective Action records.
* Updates and maintains departmental Quality Management Plan.
* Attends Quality Management meetings, creates meeting minutes, and maintains documentation.
* Identifies educational opportunities and ensures staff competency documentation.
* Help with the performance of Laboratory Safety audits, regulatory rounds and staff training.
* Performs other duties, as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a 1-2 years of experience in a medical office/hospital setting. Excellent communication (both written and oral), interpersonal, customer service, organization, and multitasking skills. Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel). Knowledge of Quality Principles.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree In clinical laboratory technology program or in biology, chemistry, or the physical sciences or equivalent preferred.
New York State clinical laboratory technologist license.
Certification by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) Board of Certification (BOC).
3-5 Years of Laboratory Technologist experience. 3-5 Years of Quality system related experience.
Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

Long Island Community Hospital provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $59,225.00 - $94,811.50 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
