    Job Description

    General Summary

    Independently lead, manage and coordinate specific project management for department. Provide leadership in the planning, development and management of projects consistent with strategic goals and annual operating plan. Responsibilities include researching, analyzing, and independently developing, coordinating, managing and implementing projects.

    Principal Responsibilities and Tasks

    The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by people assigned to this classification. They are not to be construed as an exhaustive list of all job duties performed by personnel so classified.

    1. Lead and manage organizational and service line specific projects from conception, to analytics, to completion. Effectively engage with the customer and involve appropriate departments across the organization (Finance, Quality, Marketing, Clinical Operations, etc.) as needed to fulfill data/reporting requests and ensure analytics are meaningful and sound.

    2. Work independently and use critical thinking to evaluate the most effective methods for tracking deadlines, critical steps and project progress.

    3. Evaluate the implementation of projects and provide immediate and effective change as indicated by evaluative findings throughout process to achieve expected outcomes.

    4. Interface and collaborate with applicable physicians, vice presidents, administrators, directors and managers throughout the hospital in the execution of projects. Works with external hospital customers regularly, provide analyses as needed; monitor and maintain reporting consistently to achieve Hospital and Departmental results.

    5. Prepares and/or validates assumptions and other documentation in developing the Medical Center’s annual operating plan.

    6. Lead and coordinate various surveys including the Annual American Hospital Survey, Annual Bed Designation Survey, and communications related to benchmarking. Participates in regular webinars, calls, and training sessions to ensure that UMMC data is accurate and updated with the latest requirements.

    7. Manage and coordinate the MIEMSS re-designation process for perinatal services, requiring knowledge of the regulatory process and any changes and/or updates in the regulations.

    8. Manage and coordinate the MEIMSS re-verification process to ensure UMMC remains in compliance and certified as a Cardiac Interventional Center (CIC), requiring knowledge of the regulatory process and any changes and/or updates in the regulations.

    9. Manage and coordinate the MHCC percutaneous coronary intervention certificate of ongoing performance for UMMC, requiring knowledge of the regulatory process and any changes and/or updates in the regulations.

    Education and Experience

    • Bachelor’s degree required, master’s preferred. Related project management, data analytics and strategic planning experience may be substituted for education.
    • Five years progressively responsible project management, data analytics, finance, or managed care experience is required.
    • At least 5 years healthcare-related background is preferred.
    • Experience in communication with internal/external customers, physicians and senior executives.

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

    • Knowledge of medical terminology, elementary accounting and/or statistics and demographic information required. General familiarity with ICD-9-CM, DRG, and CPT-4 coding preferred.
    • Demonstrated proficiency with the use of Microsoft Office (Access, Excel, PowerPoint, or other spreadsheet and graphics software applications).
    • Ability to collect and analyze data and prepare simple text reports and graphic presentations.
    • Proficiency and demonstrated effectiveness in problem-solving.
    • Working knowledge of St. Paul Market Share Analyst (MSA) data or Horizon Performance Management (HPM).
    • Ability to judge the level of confidentiality of information / activities involved in and exhibit integrity in use of dissemination of such information.
    • Ability to communicate regularly with various UMMS departments, physicians and senior management
    • Highly effective verbal and written communication skills are necessary in dealing with a variety of healthcare and finance professionals including senior management staff.
    • Ability to develop and evaluate complex data via use of computer analysis.
    • Excellent organization and problem-solving skills and team leadership skills are required to develop and implement efficient work processes. Ability to work in a stressful environment. Ability to work effectively in a matrix work environment.

    • Pay Range: $40.61-$60.96
