Experience : 0 Description : PRN The medical physicist serves a vital role in the treatment team by ensuring overall accuracy of patient treatment as prescribed by the radiation oncologist. He/She is responsible for the calibration and quality assurance of treatment equipment, development and implementaion of new clinical techniques, troubleshooting complex technical and clinical issues, monitoring the daily adherence to treatment procedures and policies, planning complicated clinical cases, and providing general medical physics support to other staff. He/she must have a thorough understanding of the technology and techniques used in simulation, planning and treatment, and demonstrate a full understanding of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, radiation physics, radiation safety and billing. He/she must use this knowledge along with professional, ethical judgement anc critical thinking to oversee the accurate radiation treatments of patients consistent with the radiation oncologists intent. He/She interacts with the therapists, supervisors, dosimetrists and rad oncs to ensure that treatment plans are implemented accurately to ensure the degree of precision and accuracy needed for IMRT, IGRT, SRS and SBRT. He/She participates in continuing education for professional development. We are seeking someone proficient in programming and knowledgeable/experienced in MRI use in Radiation Oncology to support upcoming projects.
