As clinically-trained professional Chaplains, the mission of WellStars Spiritual Health Department is to impact the healing experience by offering compassionate presence and bringing hope to patients and residents, families, staff and community, evidencing our commitment to the health and well-being of the whole person mind, body, and spirit. The Chaplain has the primary responsibilities of offering spiritual health care and emotional support to patients and their families/support systems, inclusive of all faith traditions and chosen spiritual paths, using their expertise and advance knowledge of spiritual health. The Chaplain performs spiritual assessments and determines spiritual interventions, based on their knowledge and discretion, that include sacraments and rituals, as appropriate; collaborates with the multidisciplinary team to positively impact the patients plan of care; and offers beginning-of-life and end-of-life support to the patient and bereavement support to the patients family/support system. The Chaplain works closely with the larger faith community to create a network of support to best meet the religious and spiritual needs of patients, families, and team members. The Chaplain offers support to team members, including education on self-care and compassion fatigue. The Chaplain is required to participate in the on-call rotation on a regular basis, as determined by the facilities needs. Qualifications Required Minimum Education: Masters Degree in Divinity, Theology, or equivalent Masters Level Degree from a graduate school, school ofdivinity or theology, or seminary accredited by the Association of Theological Schools or one of the regionalAssociation of Colleges and Schools or its equivalent Four Units of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) completed at a training center accredited by the Association ofClinical Pastoral Education (ACPE)Required Minimum Licensure/Certification: Ordination or Licensure for ministry by a recognized faith group Endorsement for Hospital Chaplaincy by a recognized faith group Board Certification (BCC Board Certified Chaplain), or eligibility for certification, by APC (Association forProfessional Chaplains), NACC (National Association of Catholic Chaplains), or NAJC (National Association ofJewish Chaplains); must complete BCC within 24 months of hire Maintains good standing with professional chaplaincy organizations and ecclesiastical ordaining and endorsingbodiesACPE Certified Educator, Associate Certified Educator, or Certified Educator Candidate (CEC), with experience supervising CPE students STRONGLY PREFERREDRequired Minimum Experience: One year of experience in spiritual health ministry in a health care setting Required Minimum Skills: Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written Exceptional listening skills, combined with spiritual assessment and spiritual advisement Demeanor becoming of a professional chaplain and spiritual leader Demonstrated ability to perform spiritual assessments, determine appropriate spiritual interventions, and effectively offer spiritual health support to persons of diverse systems of beliefs and values Create staff support interventions to reduce burnout and compassion fatigue Proficient in multi-tasking and triaging crises Ability to perform at a high level in stressful and emotionally charged situations Demonstrate resiliency working in the arenas of loss and grief An outstanding team player and good interpersonal skills Ability to function with a high degree of independence Role model of the healthcare organizations mission, vision, and credo Working knowledge of health care organizations and biomedical ethics Competent in Microsoft Office programs Experience with electronic medical record documentation preferred
