Position Purpose
Provides preventative and routine maintenance on the DRPA fleet, for all departments, to ensure quality of the vehicles and equipment used in DRPA operations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Performs all repairs, minor and major, on all vehicles, heavy equipment and specialized
- Maintains all vehicles and equipment in accordance with the established preventative maintenance plan.
- Maintains regular procedural records, such as vehicle maintenance records, in the computer.
- Operate pieces of equipment of a specialized nature requiring special skill.
- Operate motorized equipment and vehicles in a safe manner following all laws pertaining to New Jersey and Pennsylvania.
- Report unusual conditions and take corrective actions as assigned.
- Operate radio equipment under FCC (Federal Communications Commission) guidelines for intra-facility use.
- Performs all necessary motor, vehicle and repairs to a variety of equipment, such as trucks, police vehicles, sweepers, flushers, heavy duty equipment (loaders), specialized equipment (backhoes, aerial lifts vehicles, sewer cleaners, crane), tractors and lawn equipment, alternate fuel vehicles (natural gas, propane, gasoline/ethanol, electric/battery, diesel/bio-diesel) and other miscellaneous equipment.
- Performs various welding/fabrication tasks related to vehicle and equipment repairs, up fitting new equipment and modification to include attachments such as plows, salt spreaders, attenuators and tow behind trailers, but not limited too.
- Maintains, services, repairs all equipment/vehicle related electric/hydraulic drives and
- Carry out preventative maintenance program using established fleet procedures.
- Maintains, adjusts, and repairs all vehicle attachments such as plows, salt spreaders, attenuators and tow behind trailers.
- Maintain the vehicles in accordance to a preventative maintenance plan to the original factory specifications and Pennsylvania inspection specifications.
- Operate street sweeper, pain line machine, snow equipment and other equipment of a specialized nature.
- Participates in MPT (Maintenance and Protection of Traffic) on and off of bridge property.
- Assists in maintaining a clean, organized, safe, and secure environment by following established policies/procedures and participating in required training, recognizing and reporting hazards, and using all required personal protection equipment.
- Coordinates, with the Maintenance Foreman, the activities of outside contractors performing tasks at the facility.
- Technicians shall perform all duties as assigned but shall not be limited to any certain specialty (ies).
This is a safety sensitive position and is subject to all provisions of the DRPA/PATCO’S Substance Abuse Testing and Control Policy including random drug testing and periodic physical testing requirements and the federally mandated CDL Drug and Alcohol random testing requirements.

- Climbs the bridge structure, via ladder and hand railed walkways to access maintenance platform equipment in excess of 150 feet required.

Education and Experience
R equired:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- Certification of completion from an accredited trade or vocational school evidencing at least 2 years of training in motor vehicle repairs
OR
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience working as a mechanic in a commercial or private garage
- Pass DRPA Auto Technician tests.
- This position requires a current Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class A or B with air brakes and tanker endorsement from the state of New Jersey, Pennsylvania or Delaware. Applicants who lack the appropriate CDL at the time of application, but who otherwise are deemed qualified for the position may be considered. If the selected candidate does not have the appropriate CDL at the time of selection, he or she must obtain said CDL within the orientation period. Failure to provide proof of the CDL, which is required to perform the essential duties of the job, for any reason within six (6) months from the candidate’s date of hire will result in the immediate termination of employment.

- Proficiency in relevant personal computer applications such as word processing and spreadsheet applications.

Physical Requirements
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit 5%. The employee is required to stand and walk 75% and lift, climb, bend 20%. The employee must occasionally lift, hold, and carry objects up to 50 + pounds. Have normal day and night time vision, corrected or uncorrected. Have normal hearing, corrected or uncorrected. Must be able to perform all position functions. Must be able to physically operate all job related equipment for the position functions. The employee must maintain a neat and clean appearance.
