The purpose of this program is to attract and recruit qualified Police
Officer Recruit and Police Officer candidates throughout the community
and to identify potential candidates for possible *sponsorships to
attend the Police Academy. Essential Functions SCOPE The Boynton Beach
Police Department Combine will consist of the following: * Informational
session/Meet and Greet with BBPD Officers and Chain of Command * Oral
Board * Live Action Simulation(s) * Physical Agility Testing (run,
pushups and sit-ups) Minimum Qualifications Police Officer Recruit *
Must possess a high school diploma or valid equivalent * Must be able to
attend the police academy (fulltime; which may include nights/weekends)
- Must be able to pass all required testing for acceptance into the
academy * No felony or misdemeanor convictions involving moral turpitude
- If prior military, must have received Honorable Discharge * No
disciplinary related terminations from prior law enforcement
employment(s). Police Officer * Must possess a high school diploma or
valid equivalent * Must have five (5) months previous experience and/or
training involving law enforcement, to include passing the Basic Law
Enforcement test as administered through an accredited police academy. *
Must be eligible for immediate issuance of a Police Certificate from the
Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE). * Must possess or be
eligible to immediately obtain and maintain a valid Florida driver's
license. * No felony or misdemeanor convictions involving moral
turpitude * If prior military, must have received Honorable Discharge *
No disciplinary related terminations from prior law enforcement
employment(s) Supplemental Information POLICE OFFICER RECRUIT POLICY -
*If receiving sponsorship from the Boynton Beach Police Department to
attend the Police Academy, the Police Officer Recruit must sign a two
year commitment agreement with the City of Boynton Beach that stipulates
the reimbursement of all costs associated with orientation and entering
of field training, all costs associated with instructions in the field
of police science and education, and all costs associated with
completion of field training programs as provided by Florida State
Statute, Section 943.16. PHYSICAL AND SENSORY REQUIREMENTS /
ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS Physical Ability: Tasks require the regular and,
at times, sustained performance of moderately physically demanding work,
typically involving some combination of climbing and balancing,
stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling, and that may involve the
lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling of moderately heavy objects
and materials (50 pounds). Sensory Requirements: Some tasks require the
ability to perceive and discriminate colors or shades of colors, sounds,
odor, depth, texture, and visual cues or signals. Tasks require the
ability to communicate orally. Environmental Factors: Performance of
essential functions may require exposure to adverse environmental
conditions, such as fumes, noise extremes, electric currents, traffic
hazards, toxic agents, violence, or pathogenic substances. The City of
