    Job Description

    Colwen Hotels is a dynamic and growing hotel company, with an extraordinary portfolio of successful branded and independent hotels located in the northeast. With an aggressive growth plan, we are seeking a hands-on, tenured, and results driven Vice President Human Resources to join our team.

    Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Vice President of Human Resources has the overall responsibility for creating, implementing and overseeing seamless delivery of human resources systems and processes at each hotel along with Colwen Management and Colwen Design & Purchasing in order to attain the highest standards, efficiency and compliance.  Culture builder, s/he will be responsible for providing strategic leadership, guidance and direction on all human resources concepts, initiatives and processes. S/he is in charge of creating, implementing and monitoring policies, procedures, and structure of training programs for all hotel human resources functions. The VP of Human Resources will oversee areas including legal compliance, recruitment, benefits administration, associate and labor relations as well as performance management for the organization. S/he must act as a team leader and motivator for the hotel teams, thus, strong interpersonal and communication skills are an essential requirement.

    • Plan, direct, supervise, and coordinate work activities of the HR functions relating to employment, compensation, recruitment, benefits administration, and performance management for all employees and properties.
    • Responsible for creating, implementing and monitoring recruitment and retention processes, programs and best practices
    • Ensure all legal compliance program with recruitment, sourcing and on boarding of new hires.
    • Oversee the overall administration, consistent application and compliance of benefit including but not limited to plans such as health, life, disability, retirement, PTO, leaves of absence, etc.
    • Develop, implement and monitor associate training, recognition and engagement programs
    • Participate in committees and special projects as needed
    • Travel to different properties/venues
    • Partner with the Executive Team and Ownership on projects/initiatives to achieve short and long term objectives
    • Attend and participate in all scheduled meetings and training sessions
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    • Minimum of 7 years of multi-property Human Resources management experience.
    • Prior Hospitality Human Resources experience required
    • Previous experience working with multi-hotel brands (Marriott, Hilton, IHG)
    • Superior written and verbal communications skills.
    • Strong quantitative and analytical skills combined with solid business and financial acumen.
    • Solid relationship management and client service orientation skills.
    • Ability to identify issues, generate and evaluate alternatives and implement solutions.
    • Excellent management and leadership skills.
    • Effective team management and coaching skills
    • Ability to be hands-on and tactical as well as strategic when appropriate.
    • Highly responsive to owners and colleagues.  Owns the work product and is committed to the quality, accuracy and timeliness.
    • Takes the initiative in leading, communicating, offering service, and in solving problems.
