  • Responsibilities

    Job Description

    Mechanic Helper will assist in the service, repair, and preventative maintenance of company vehicles and equipment. In this role, you will work closely with mechanics to ensure all fleet and machinery operate efficiently and safely.

    • Observes mechanical devices in operation and listens for unusual sounds to identify the cause of malfunctions.

    • Dismantles devices to access and remove defective parts.

    • Examines parts to detect imperfections.

    • Repairs or replaces defective parts.

    • Installs special functional and structural components in devices.

    • Initiates purchase orders for parts and machines.

    • Repairs electrical equipment.

    • Operates various types of equipment as needed, including front-end loaders, lulls, trucks, etc.

  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    • Three years of experience in mechanical work, including diesel and gas engines. Must be able to fabricate and weld on equipment and machinery. Must be capable of working on various types of equipment and vehicles.

    Education & Certifications

    • Driver’s License (Class D)

    • Training in ABS brakes and automotive air conditioning is required. Scanner diagnostic training is preferred but not mandatory.

    While performing the duties of this job, the team member is:

    • Regularly required to stand, walk, and sit.

    • Frequently using hands to finger, handle, or feel objects.

    • Required to reach with hands and arms.

    • Expected to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

    • Required to talk and hear.

    • Occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

    • Required to have specific vision abilities , including close vision, distance vision, and color vision.

    Language Skills

    • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.

    • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

    • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

    • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or team members within the organization.

    Mathematical Skills

    • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

    • Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and multiply and divide by 10s and 100s.

    Reasoning Abilities

    • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out written or oral instructions.

    • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

    • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with various concrete variables in situations with limited standardization.

    • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

    Work Environment

    • Regular exposure to wet and/or humid conditions , moving mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles, and outside weather conditions.

    • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

    • Other duties may be assigned as needed.

      • Ability to perform these operations using units of American money, weight measurement, volume, and distance.
