Payroll Specialist Potbelly Sandwich Shop 824 reviews - Chicago, IL The Payroll Specialist is responsible for activities related to processing high volume multi-state payroll for all Potbelly shops according to weekly and bi-weekly processing deadlines for hourly associates, management, Support Center and Contract Employees (musicians). He or she should have working knowledge of voluntary payroll deduction, banking information, federal and state withholdings and other critical employee payroll matters. Responsibilities * Process bi-weekly and weekly payrolls including but not limited to verifying hours, calculating OT & retro pay; processing benefit deductions; bonus payouts; direct deposit or pay card set up * Process 1099 bi-weekly payroll for musicians and temps * Prepare manual checks as needed * Process stop payments and reissues of lost payroll checks/pay cards and direct deposit reversals; investigate and resolve all payroll discrepancies in a timely and accurate fashion * Complete quarterly and year end balancing of payrolls including researching errors with ADP * Provide adhoc payroll or job/salary reports for HR, operations, accounting or other departments as requested * Follow up to obtain eligible WOTC documentation * Handle employment verifications and provides data updates to The Work Number * Setup new tax jurisdictions and update/setup unemployment tax rate changes * Performance Wage & Tax Reconciliations; handle new hire reporting * Handle Bureau Labor Statistics reporting and other federal/state agency requests * Maintain employee personnel files * Closely works with payroll vendors with regards to associate garnishments * Conduct year end W2 audits; * Special projects as needed and/or as assigned * Knowledge and backup of HRIS user security changes, password resets * Provide stellar customer service to all individuals. * Supports all shop locations, by responding to numerous daily email and phone inquiries Experience, Education and Behaviors * Must represent The Potbelly Advantage and Our Values. * High School degree required.
