    Job Description

    The Transfer Driver is responsible for safely transporting retail and rental products, including bikes, skis, snowboards, and other equipment, between designated locations using trucks and vans. This role involves loading and unloading items using liftgates, organizing products efficiently for transport, and navigating varying terrains, including snow and ice. Additionally, the driver utilizes mobile scanning technology to track shipments accurately while ensuring safe driving practices in all weather conditions. This position reports to the Transfer Driver Manager.

    Essential Job Functions

    • Drives trucks and vans to pick up and deliver summer and winter retail and rental product (boxes, bikes, skis, snowboards, etc) and other items between Rental/Retail stores, Tune Shop, Guest Service locations and other designated locations
    • Loads and unloads product utilizing vehicle liftgates. Winter rental products are loaded on rolling carts and those must be rolled between trucks and pickup/delivery locations. Carts can weigh up to 600 lbs. and sometimes need to be rolled through snow and other varying terrain
    • Organizes bikes, skis and snowboards according to appropriate destination
    • Loads trucks, organizing to maximize available space. Unloads trucks at destinations
    • Sorts boots and helmets to return to home locations
    • Utilizes mobile scanning devices and software to properly track the shipment of retail and rental products between pick-up and delivery locations.
    • Maintains safe practices on varying road conditions, and on slick, ice-covered walkways in winter
    • Safely operates all vehicles and company equipment including pallet jacks, lift gates, dock plates and elevators
    • Maintains truck logs according to state and federal regulations
    • Maintains telephone contact with supervisor and team members
    • Recognizes emergency situations and performs emergency roadside repairs such as changing tires and installing fuses
    • Ensures the interior of all company vehicles are maintained and kept clean at all times
    • Other duties as assigned

    Education & Experience Requirements

    • High School diploma or GED required
    • Must have a valid, current, unrestricted Driver’s License
    • 6 months (minimum) previous experience driving large box truck is required

    Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

    • Proficient knowledge of operating a large vehicle in adverse conditions
    • Basic industry terminology
    • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively
    • Ability to do basic problem-solving
    • Ability to identify straightforward issues and propose simple solutions
    • Proficiency in communicating clearly both verbally and in writing to team members
    • Ability to drive and operate a box truck
    • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

    Additional Information

    Work Environment and Physical Demands

    • Ability to reach, crouch, kneel, see, hear, sit, drive a shuttle/car for extended periods of time; squat, kneel and bend
    • Regularly work/drive in adverse weather conditions. Frequently drive in bright sunlight and at night. Exposure to noises that cause distraction and may be required to walk on slippery and uneven surfaces
    • Must be able to frequently lift, push or pull up to 50 lbs. individually or with assistance (weight limits can vary according to position, but no more than 50)
