    POSITION PROFILE

    The Mechanical Designer will be responsible for fully documenting product designs as specified by Knoll Design, engineering and manufacturing teams.

     

    ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

    RESPONSIBLE FOR THE DOCUMENTATION OF PRODUCT DESIGNS BY CREATING SOLID MODELS AND DETAIL DRAWINGS USING CREO SOLID MODELING DESIGN TOOLS, INCLUDING, BUT NOT BEING LIMITED TO:

    • Advanced working knowledge of Creo 4 including ASSEMBLY, SHEETMETAL-DESIGN, DETAIL, and REPORT
    • Advanced working knowledge of ASME Y14.5 and ASME Y14.100 Dimensioning, Tolerancing and Engineering Drawing Practices
    • Working knowledge of Windchill Product Data Management software
    • Knowledge of materials and manufacturing processes used in consumer product applications particularly injection molded plastic, cast aluminum and zinc, aluminum extrusions, steel tubing, sheetmetal, and wood

    ACTS AS AN INTEGRAL MEMBER OF THE PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT TEAM, AND IN SUPPORT OF THE NEW PRODUCT COMMERCIALIZATION PROCESS:

    • Support the engineering design effort of Product Development Engineers and Design Assistants
    • Develop the mechanical design of parts and assemblies that adhere to, and comply with, industry standard and advanced materials and manufacturing processes
    • Develop detail and assembly drawings with adherence to ANSI / ASME drafting standards.
    • Initiate timely communication of project progress and challenges
    • Fluidly manage multiple concurrent assignments as an integral part of a multi-disciplined product development network
    • Coordinate with Product Engineering, Quality, and Operations to assure documentation of best practices leading to end product integrity
    • Participate in ongoing development, communication and implementation of team concepts, programs and policies
    • Actively participate in appropriate team meetings
    • Quickly communicate with the Project Team Leader regarding observed areas of less than optimal cohesiveness

    Required Skills

    Two years technical school / Associates Degree or approved equivalent

    Required Experience

    TECHNICAL EXPERIENCE:

    • Minimum 5 years working experience utilizing Creo 3D mechanical design (or equivalent) and detailing software and Windchill Product Data Management software
    • Ability to demonstrate knowledge in the application of Creo software and Windchill software within the interview/selection process
    • Demonstrated working knowledge of ANSI/ASME Y14.100 and Y14.5 design and drafting standards, and proven working knowledge of SURFACE, SHEETMETAL, FAMILY TABLES, and REPORT

    INDUSTRY EXPERIENCE:

    • Working knowledge of Interactive Surface Design Extension (ISDX) and Creo NC software will be considered a plus
