    POSITION SUMMARY:

    As a Staff Accountant, you will play a key role in our financial operations. You will be responsible for managing all project billings and collaborating with Project Managers to review project performance reports. You will ensure compliance with sales and use tax regulations and maintain business license files. Additionally, you will be responsible for reconciling and maintaining prepaid and fixed assets, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in our financial processes.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Project Billings

    • A significant percentage of time will be spent working with Project Managers to generate client invoices and ensuring accuracy. Review project agreements for proper fiscal authority execution and special invoicing requirements. Ensure all required information is provided to the client during the invoice cycle.
    • Serve as a partner to PM’s including assisting with functions requested such as tracking vendor invoices, preparing progress reports, and completing ad hoc financial analysis.
    • Manage lien waivers, insurance, pay apps, and change orders.
    • Close projects/jobs.

    Sales and Use Tax

    • At month-end, prepare the Sales/Use tax file to be processed by a third party.
    • Once the third party returns the Sales/Use tax file work with our ERP consultants to upload into our ERP system.
    • Assist with the continual improvement of sales tax compliance procedures.

    General Ledger

    • Month-end entries: Enterprise, Wex, Lease Query, and Verizon.
    • Research questions and processes in the general ledger.
    • Perform balance sheet reconciliations.
    • General Ledger Analysis.
    • Prepare documentation and provide supporting documents for external auditors.

    REQUIREMENTS:

    • 2-3 years of accounting or finance experience.
    • Bachelor or Associate degree in Accounting or Finance - or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Understands accounting and can code and input journal entries.
    • Able to create and run reports from accounting and payroll software systems.
    • Proficient with MS Office suite.
    • Familiar with accounting software systems and able to master new systems with ease (i.e., Sage Intacct and BuildOps).
    • 10 key skills: Key touch recognition of the numerical keys on computer and calculator keyboards.
    • Preferred: Experience with Avalara (Automated Tax Software).
