Responsibilities and Qualifications The Position Our Anoka, MN location, where Federal Premium Ammunition is produced, is seeking Machine Operator/Pellet Chargers to add to our team. The Federal Premium location has a rich history in the community and has been operating since 1922. The Machine Operator/Pellet Charger is responsible for monitoring the quality of the operation's output making adjustments to keep the operation within specification and will rotate to the operation of putting primer mix in primer cups. Shift Information: Potential Openings on the following full-time shifts: Shift S: 7pm-7am Fri/Sat/Sun The first 6-8 weeks will likely be on another shift for training. Starting wage is $19.03/hr (+ applicable shift premium) with increases every 90 days up to $27.68/hr. Education and Experience Requirements: High School Diploma or GED (requires verification) At least 1 year of manufacturing experience is required, preferably inspection/assembly Additional Requirements: Qualified candidates must be at least 18 years old; able to pass a background check and pre-employment physical & drug screen; and pass required written testing. This position also will require a post-offer BATFE background check. Physical Requirements: Machine Operator portion of job physical requirements: A majority of time spent sitting, standing and moving about. Reaching, handling, fingering and manual dexterity to assemble, operate, adjust and inspect. Occasional bending and extension of arms at shoulder level. Frequent to continual lifting, pushing and manipulating (waist and shoulder area) of objects weighing up to 35 pounds, with occasional lifting up to 50 pounds. Near vision to handle a large number of very small parts and to detect visual defects. Must have normal color vision and normal depth perception capability. Pellet Charger portion of job physical requirements: All duties are done while standing. Continuous pushing, pulling and exertion of downward pressure by arms and shoulders, bending of waist and reaching of upper arms and shoulders to force primer mix (weighting approx 2 lbs) into charging plate holes. Extension of arms at shoulder level and twisting of upper arms to transfer pellets from the charge plate to cups. Manual dexterity to remove defects from charging plate. Frequent to continual lifting, pushing and manipulating (waist and shoulder area) of objects weighing up to 10 pounds, with occasional lifting up to 50 pounds. Near vision to visually inspect cups and shells for defects. Must have normal color vision and normal depth perception capability. Mental Requirements: Attention to detail to identify defects. Ability to take direction from others. Communication skills to work effectively in a team environment. High level of mental attentiveness to manipulate and visually inspect small parts and to ensure safety. Reading and basic math comprehension to understand and interpret training guides, standard operating procedures and quality information (SPC, charts, graphs, etc.) and to complete production reports. Interpersonal communication skills to facilitate problem-solving and to interact daily with internal customers and suppliers, other shift associates and work teams.
