Position Specifications * Reports to: Director of Response and Operations * Position Location: Houston, TX * Position Type: Fulltime Regular * FLSA Classification: Non-Exempt * Compensation: Commensurate with experience * Travel Requirements: 0% travel required Position Summary We are a growing consulting firm in need of a reliable and talented Watch stander. Your work as a Watchstander will make a real difference as you support the response team with various tasks, including handling high volume emergency calls, monitoring ships and other duties as assigned. Your work will directly impact our ability to impact the business and meet department objectives, enabling us to successfully initiate and deliver projects, and rapidly respond to our clients' needs by having boots on the ground immediately after disaster strikes. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience supporting activities related to emergency call center services. This position will interact with Company Clients and all levels of management, field personnel, etc.], requires executive presence, and strong verbal and written communication skills. We are looking for a self-motivated, responsible and confident individual with a commitment to integrity and the ability to prioritize multiple projects, meet deadlines, and work collaboratively with minimal supervision. Essential Functions The candidate will perform the following essential functions: * Takes spill reports and makes required federal, state and local agency notifications for all Company clients as required * Participates in approximately 300 Exploration and Production (E&P) DOI Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement (BSEE)drills annually * Conducts Qualified Individual (QI) and Emergency Procedures Exercises for approximately 8,000 vessels * Monitors Ship Security Alert Systems for approximately 250 vessels * Conducts State of California Emergency Services Drills * Conducts State of Washington Emergency Services Drills

    • Handles Emergency Calls with a monthly average of 3500+ * Answers telephones in a courteous manner and is professional always * Maintains printers and fax machines to ensure they are ready when needed * Other duties as assigned Preferred Skills and Abilities The candidate should possess the following: * Basic computing skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) and the Internet * Punctual, dependable, and patient * Ability to remain calm and professional during crisis periods - no inappropriate language will be tolerated * Excellent communication skills, especially speaking on the phone * Ability to learn new concepts quickly Education and Experience Requirements The candidate must possess the following education and experience requirements: * Degree: High School Diploma or Equivalent * Years of Experience: At least one year of high volume emergency customer service/call center experience * Other Experience: At least one to two years of firefighting or law enforcement services preferred; emergency management background preferred This position description incorporates the core responsibilities of the job.
