    What you’ll be doing...

    The Verizon CyberSecurity Strategy and Program Office is seeking a highly skilled Technical Project Manager to oversee the successful design and execution of key critical and highly visible CyberSecurity initiatives. Reporting into the Associate Director of the Program Management Office, this position will interface directly with the CyberSecurity leadership team, including the CISO, and require leveraging a broad technical acumen combined with deep project management skills to support and oversee projects specifically related to cybersecurity and artificial intelligence (AI).

    The ideal candidate will have the experience to support the development of best practices associated with secure use of generative AI, AI-derived insights, orchestration and data protection. Though the candidate will partner with others to create a risk-based strategy for securing emerging technologies, they will be responsible for successful implementation of associated high-level project initiatives including solution communication, integration, governance and continual improvement. This will include drafting detailed, often technical, execution plans and leading matrixed teams to effective project delivery.

    Given the growth in the AI space, the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, including managing through others project managers, is critical. As the project leader, they will be the first point of escalation to communicate and remove potential impediments and barriers to success, while regularly interfacing to present complex ideas to Sr. executives while acting as a bridge between technical and non-technical individual contributors and the business.

    Success in this role will be recognized in delivery of projects that fulfill the CyberSecurity mission of the VCS organization.

    Responsibilities associated with the position include:

    • Serve as a trusted delivery partner for security and compliance professionals in the creation and implementation of effective security strategies

    • Act as an “owner” to drive strategic CyberSecurity initiatives, including management of scope, timelines, and budgets

    • Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of AI Cybersecurity projects, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget.

    • Manage multiple CyberSecurity initiatives using established project management tools and methodologies such as Waterfall & Agile

    • Communicate with team members and leadership teams on deliverables, performance metrics and project risks, to ensure alignment with goals, remove impediments and deliver on objectives

    • Development, review and analysis of meaningful security metrics that drive business value into the CyberSecurity strategy

    • Extract and distill technical conversations from business SMEs into documented requirements and execution plans

    • Author programmatic cyber security and organizational structure documents

    • Resource Allocation: Allocate resources effectively across multiple AI projects to optimize productivity and efficiency.

    • Stakeholder Communication: Maintain transparent communication with all stakeholders regarding project status, milestones, and outcomes.

    • Governance: Establish governance frameworks to oversee the implementation and adherence to AI policies.

    What we’re looking for...

    You’ll need to have:

    • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.

    • Six or more years of relevant experience required, demonstrated through one or a combination of work and/or military experience, or specialized training.

    • Hands-on experience in 1 or more Cyber disciplines

    • Experience with systems (server, PC or other equivalent) configuration, migration or remediation.

    Even better if you have one or more of the following:

    • Proven experience distilling technical plans into consumable presentations for nontechnical teams

    • Experience with Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Generative AI, and Large Language Models

    • Proven project management experience on long term, large-scope projects

    • Knowledge of Verizon

    • Excellent analytical, organizational, written, and verbal communication skills

    • Comfortable with stakeholder conflict management

    • Effective communication skills in both written and verbal formats

    • Advanced knowledge of SmartSheets and data visualization platforms

    • Experience with DevOps

    • Any Agile or Project Management certification (PMP, PSM I, PSM II, SAFe, Six Sigma, etc.)

    • Demonstrated success in gaining and applying working knowledge of new technologies and methodologies to meet evolving environments and business needs

    • Strong understanding of Agile approaches (Scrum, Lean Six Sigma, XP, Kanban etc.)

    • Strong documentation, planning, negotiation, work prioritization and organizational skills

    • Experience with creating presentations, training material, network diagrams, reports, and templates

    If you are hired into a California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, Nevada, New York, Rhode Island, Washington or Washington, D.C. work location, the compensation range for this position is between $124,000.00 and $231,000.00 annually based on a full-time schedule. The salary will vary depending on your location and confirmed job-related skills and experience. This is an incentive based position with the potential to earn more. For part time roles, your compensation will be adjusted to reflect your hours.
