TEAM OVERVIEW

The Soarian Financials Application Development Team is responsible for coding solutions that are developed to work primarily with Cerner Soarian Financials and also other legacy mainframe systems. We code in a variety of languages in different development tools. We code in JavaScript to customize the Soarian Financials user interface, SRL (Structure Rule Language) which is based off the fundamentals of Java on the backend to generate claims out of Soarian Financials, and we code in a language called EMUEScript (similar to Python) via a programming tool called EMUE which interfaces with Soarian Financials and the mainframe legacy systems. We are a full application development team receiving requirements that we will design, code and test the solutions for. 

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Software Engineer is responsible for the timely completion of programming tasks. These tasks include understanding the requirements, writing the technical design document, coding the solution, technical unit testing along with unit testing documentation, and deployment of said solution.  All necessary related documentation will be completed in accordance with established policy and procedures.

REMOTE CANDIDATES WILL BE CONSIDERED. WILL BE REQUIRED TO TRAVEL TO NY OFFICE ON OCCASION.RESPONSIBILITIES:  

• Programming experience in JavaScript or an object oriented programming language required
• Programming experience in Python preferred
• Programming experience in Java (for SRL) required
• Programming experience in API's and Web services preferred
• Knowledge of XML and XML schema's preferred
• Knowledge of Azure utilizing serverless solution desired
• Coding, Testing, Documentation in the areas of Development and Maintenance.
• Ownership of assigned software and non-software deliverables.
• Liaison with Business Analysts and/or internal / external customers to ensure that requirements are understood.
• Production of accurate, unambiguous technical design specifications to the required level of detail in the timescales as defined by the PM.
• Production, preparation and execution of unit test plans.
• Production of efficient and fully documented code.
• Production of supporting technical and installation documentation for internal and external publication.
• Achievement of agreed productivity targets in order to ensure developments are delivered within budget, to schedule and to defined quality standards.
• Completion of all necessary software and non-software components in the timescales as defined by the Project Manager.

QUALITY AND ADHERENCE TO STANDARDS

• Tech Specs, Code and/or Unit Test Plans produced are all in line with the Traceability Matrix/Functional Specification.
• Ensure all work is reviewed to ensure adherence to the relevant development standards.
• Peer review and sign-off of others work.
• Timely and accurate reporting of project status as required by Line or Project Manager.
• Production and revision of accurate detailed estimates.
• Escalate product issues and suggest product improvements.
• Escalate all issues in a timely fashion.
• Mentor junior team members in best practices and standards

QUALIFICATIONS:

• BA or BS degree preferred and/or other relevant combination of training and experience

• Possess excellent analytical skills for coding solutions as well as problem investigation

• Possess excellent verbal and written communications skills; ability to respond to customer inquiries, effectively communicate critical problems and discuss resolutions with management; ability to translate complex technical problems into simple lay terms understandable to a non-technical audience

• Self-motivated, working independently and as part of a team, takes ownership of work performance, able to learn effectively and meet deadlines.

• Ability to test developed software to insure it delivers defect free

• Knowledge of Cerner Soarian Financials UI Builder a plus

• Knowledge of Cerner Soarian Financials, CRDT Claims Rules Development Tool a plus

• Knowledge of Databound Healthcare Solutions EMUE automation programming tool utilizing web scripting and web services a plus

EXPERIENCE:

• 0-2 years Industry experience preferred
• 2-5 years' experience as Software Engineer
• Experience in application development required

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

•  May require local travel
•  May require other travel for business needs

WORKING ARRANGEMENTS:

• May require after hours on call support
• Work is performed in a standard office environment with minimal exposure to health or safety hazards
