The Consultant, Business Finance Operations provides both operational and customer support for Wireless customers receiving funding for programs managed by the Universal Service Administrative Company (USAC) such as E-Rate and other regulatory programs dedicated to providing discounted Wireless telecommunication services to Schools and Libraries. This position will also oversee the daily operations of the Group Purchasing Organization (GPO) implementation process and at times may also provide secondary support for government rebates and administrative fee workflows.
In this role, you will be primarily responsible for servicing customer accounts and providing support for the validation of customer and USAC data, handling and resolving customer inquiries, review and audit of customer discount calculations, application of discounts/credits and providing support for the reimbursement of discounts from the regulatory agencies that manage these programs. Day to day interfaces are primarily with customers, contract management, sales, finance, tax, IT and other internal departments.
Your day to day contributions will include:
Collaborating with Stakeholders: **** You will be considered the SME for Wireless E-Rate customer support and will be responsible for collaborating with other internal groups to ensure Verizon Wireless maintains compliance with the rules for these government programs. You will demonstrate a broad knowledge of business operations, including sales and customer billing, as well as demonstrated ability to understand and interpret government requirements. You will partner with all cross-functional teams and departments, including sales, BFO, legal and contract management to ensure that GPO enrollments are configured accurately.
Problem Solving and Continuous Improvement: You will address, recommend and implement solutions for issues that may arise to promote a positive customer experience and help ensure E-Rate program compliance. You will identify issues that may impact critical project deliverables and work with internal teams to find workarounds and solutions to ensure project timelines are met. You will develop more efficient work processes through thorough analysis and innovative thinking, identifying opportunities to streamline the GPO enrollment process.
Providing Customer Support: **** You will resolve E-Rate customer issues timely and help customers understand changes impacting their bills related to program funding approvals and denials and funding limits. You will assist customers with enrollment during the Moxie registration period and work with legal and tax on communications to customers prior to registration to ensure a smooth enrollment process. You will work with the BGCO on other aspects of billing to ensure E-Rate MDNs are set up correctly. You will be required to respond to E-Rate customer email inquiries in a timely manner and escalate issues that require legal involvement. As related to GPO’s you will also be responding to internal status inquiries via email, processing customer enrollments from multiple Work Force Management (WFM) mailboxes, and addressing customer inquiries on time.
Displaying Financial Acumen: You will be responsible for working with tax to ensure that manual credits and debits are accurately calculated prior to posting to customer accounts. You will be required to understand how reimbursements from USAC to Verizon impact the financials and resolve discrepancies to mitigate the risk of financial loss to Verizon.
Communicating Effectively: You will be required to communicate with all levels of leadership and provide actionable data needed to make decisions that will help grow and support expanded business, develop more efficient work processes and increase the customer experience.
