Verizon is seeking an experienced and talented lawyer/regulatory professional to join its Federal Regulatory and International Public Policy group. The group’s primary practice areas include federal and international regulatory and public policy matters for all Verizon business units.
Responsibilities of the position include:
Working with the business and policy teams to develop and advocate positions that advance the company's interest before the FCC, NTIA, ITU and other federal, state and international agencies and regulators. This will involve developing and handling complex legal, factual, technical, and economic issues.
Advocating the company’s positions in proceedings before the Federal Communications Commission, NTIA, ITU and other agencies.
Managing a docket of rulemakings and other regulatory proceedings addressing matters of interest to Verizon.
Developing and maintaining productive relationships with external stakeholders, including at trade groups, within regulatory bodies, at public interest organizations, and at other third parties.
Developing regulatory strategy, writing and editing comments, and preparing for, managing, and conducting regulatory proceedings.
Providing legal support to federal and state legislative teams in advocating on legislation with potential regulatory impact on Verizon’s businesses.
Assisting in the formulation of business and regulatory solutions to problems that expose the company to risk.
Providing counseling to various business groups to eliminate, or comply with, regulatory obligations.
You’ll need to have:
JD degree and six or more years of relevant work experience.
Active and in good standing with a state bar and, if necessary, eligible for limited In-House Counsel Licensure.
Three years of work experience at a top tier law firm or with state or federal government.
Experience with complex litigation, federal or state regulatory and administrative proceedings, and/or government investigations.
Willingness to travel up to 25%, including internationally.
Even better if you have one or more of the following:
Academic record, including high performance at top tier law school
Writing and oral advocacy skills.
Experience in RF network architecture, engineering, and operations.
Experience in spectrum and satellite policy.
Ability to understand and handle complex technical and economic issues.
Regulatory experience (particularly with FCC, NTIA and ITU).
Experience dealing with decision makers and third-party constituencies.

If you are hired into a California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, Nevada, New York, Rhode Island, Washington or Washington, D.C. work location, the compensation range for this position is between $151,000.00 and $280,000.00 annually based on a full-time schedule. The salary will vary depending on your location and confirmed job-related skills and experience. This is an incentive based position with the potential to earn more. For part time roles, your compensation will be adjusted to reflect your hours.
